Rogue Oklahoma School Bus Drivers Turn Bored Workers’ Dreams into Reality…

If you had to rank the worst jobs in Oklahoma public education, I’d put school bus driver near the top of the list, just a few notches below "Janitor," "Food Service Worker," and "Grant Writer."

Let's be honest, hauling around kids on a bus all day sounds like a pretty awful job, which probably explains why we get the people that we do apply to be bus drivers.

They don’t make a lot of money, work weird hours, and worst of all, have to deal with kids who are either hungry, tired, and grumpy in the morning, or hyper, insane, and gassy in the late afternoon after being bottled up all day at school.

As a result, I can’t really fault a couple of now-former Oklahoma school bus drivers for living life to its fullest, disregarding societal norms, and engaging in certain behaviors that most people only fantasize about.

For example, a few weeks ago, some bus driver was apparently having a bad day as a bus driver and straight up quit in the middle of a shift! What a badass, huh?!

That’s awesome! As a guy who once quit in the middle of a shift while waiting tables at Applebee’s because the GM moved me to a dead section when cutting the floor, I can say nothing feels more empowering than the courageous act of sticking it to the man – and or children – and quitting your job in the middle of the job.

Granted, the only consequence of my act of corporate civil disobedience was someone else delivering riblets and Boboli bread to tables. I didn’t leave a bunch of children stranded on the side of the road!

Either way – quitting your job on-site and at the moment feels incredible… until five minutes later when the adrenaline high wears off and you realize you need to find a new job.

The angry Norman bus driver wasn’t the only student transportation worker living the dream.

Earlier this week, Blanchard parted ways with a bus driver after he encouraged kids to fight to his fanciful delight.

Check this out:

Listen, I never condone violence, but don't we all occasionally find ourselves caught in a deep trance, voyeuristically doom-scrolling through school fight after school fight on social media? The algorithm shows that stuff to everyone...right?

Perhaps the bus driver thought this would be his chance to finally film a viral video, or maybe he was a big fan of the child fighting pits in "Game of Thrones: House of Dragon" and wanted to recreate them on the bus!

Either way, outside of triggering embarrassment and trauma that will be bottled up into chronic anxiety and haunt the kid for the rest of his life, what’s wrong with encouraging a couple of kids to fight? How else will they learn how to go viral?

But as I mentioned, Blanchard Public Schools fired the bus driver, so I guess he’s now unemployed like the Norman dude. That really stinks.

As a result, I'd like to award these bus drivers the TLO Medal of Courage for sacrificing their financial well-just so we all could live vicariously through them. We wish them the best of luck in finding new shitty jobs to work, and new ways to entertain.
