Say what you want about Jim Inhofe, but the guy cares about all Americans. For example, in a recent interview with Politico, he expressed concerns over where transgendered troops will use the bathroom.
Via Politico.com:
Sen. Jim Inhofe, a senior member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, opposes the plan announced last week by the Pentagon to allow transgender troops to serve in the military, saying “it wouldn’t work.”
Asked to explain his opposition, the socially conservative Oklahoma Republican told POLITICO: “I had a 10-year-old — not my son, but a friend of mine’s grandson — say, ‘All right, which bathroom would they use?'”
Hmmn, which bathroom will the transgendered soldiers use? That's an interesting question. It's almost as interesting as "What are you doing talking to your friend's 10-year-old grandson about where transgendered people use the restroom?" A few more conversations like that and Jim Inhofe won't be allowed within 1,000-feet of a park, church or school.
Seriously, how does that conversation get brought up? Maybe the kid is Jim Inhofe's Chief of Staff. It wouldn't surprise me. If anyone was going to hire a 10-year-old to run his office, it would be the old man who likes to shoot birds, fly airplanes and play in the snow.
When pressed further by Politico, Inhofe gave the following answer:
He indicated, though, that there would be no immediate effort to block the Pentagon’s plan. “Right now I’ve got a highway bill I’m doing,” he said. “We’ll talk about that later.”
Great, he's in charge of the highway bill. When our interstate highways resemble a Hot Wheels track, I think we'll know why.
