Some guy stuck a hidden camera inside a Braum’s bathroom…

braum's peeping tom

We usually don't cover weird and unusual news that occurs outside the Sooner state, but when a story involves a Peeping Tom (suspect pictured above) placing a hidden camera disguised as an electrical outlet inside a women's restroom at a Braum's in Grapevine, Texas, I think we'll make an exception.

Via CW 33:

Grapevine Police are looking for a man suspected of placing a hidden camera inside a ladies restroom at a Braum’s restaurant in Grapevine. Investigators released a picture of an unidentified man, and possible suspect, whose face appeared in the photos captured by the device.

“It’s pretty scary – it’s an invasion of privacy,” Braum’s customer Laura Elsaesser said. “It seems you don’t have any privacy anymore anywhere you go.”

Investigators said the suspect was scooped last week, by a Braum’s employee who discovered the odd device disguised as an electrical outlet.

You gotta love Braum's employees. They may not be the best at getting an order right or cleaning a dining room, but they are sure are observant when it comes to noticing secret cameras hidden inside restrooms. I wonder how the worker even noticed? Since every Braum's bathroom seems to be out of paper towels (or do they have those awful automatic hand dryers), maybe she was trying to dry her hands by sticking them in the outlet. Knowing what I know about the typical Braum's worker, that wouldn't surprise me. Then again, that scenario would mean the employee actually washed her hands after using the restroom, so who knows what to believe.

Here's more from the report:

Grapevine Police believe the hidden camera wasn’t on for long, possibly just one day. Yet, in that time, police said at least one victim was caught on camera. Detectives are trying to identify that woman.

“We’re hoping somebody will recognize this criminal, and contact us. That way, we can get him identified, so we can prevent this from happening in the future,” Sgt. Robert Eberling with Grapevine Police Department said.

Great, the police are hard at work trying to identify the woman who was caught on camera. That sure is comforting. Maybe I'm in the minority here, but if you were the person caught on tape, wouldn't you just rather not know about it? If you don't know you were filmed using the bathroom, were you actually filmed using the bathroom?

That question is about as tough to answer as why a Peeping Tom would target a Braum's restroom. Filming people is gross enough, but choosing a Braum's is extra disgusting. Does this guy not have standards. At least class it up and chose a frozen yogurt shop or something. That's where the attractive people hang out.

Anyway, I guess if you know the suspect or see him hanging out at a local Braum's, call the police. In the meantime, watch this video of the report from CW 33. It's the new style of local news where they 86 the reporter, make the "person on the street" hold the mic, play some knock off hip hop music, and have some guy from Power Jam 103.5 narrate the entire thing. It's like bad MTV meets local news. I'm not sure what to think about it.
