As I mentioned yesterday, out of the 15 people running to be Governor of Oklahoma, four of them are bona fide millionaires.
Not surprisingly, those four were the only candidates invited to last night's News 9 “Millionaires Only” gubernatorial debate, where we got to hear their braggadocios and bold stances on issues important to far-right Oklahomans.
This was especially apparent when the candidates tried to outflank each other while sharing their aggressive—and at times downright absurd—views on medical marijuana.
Check out this reefer madness:
Do you believe the state's medical marijuana industry should continue to exist as-is, or do you support reforms/a shutdown of that organization? pic.twitter.com/dYWOaQTEt1

Any time a conservative complains about the time and money spent cracking down on “illegal” medical marijuana, I like to remind them there’s actually a pretty simple solution – legalize and tax it. Poof (or puff)… problem solved.
Of course, it’s not that easy when candidates feel the need to one-up each other for votes.
Out of all the remarks, I’d say Chip Keating's and Charles McCall’s were the most alarming.
They both essentially called to either repeal medical marijuana or turn the system on its head by layering in heavy-handed, real-world prescription-style restrictions. Their ideas are ludicrous, unrealistic, and hopefully dead on arrival at the Legislature—but concerning nonetheless.
On a less alarming note, AG Gentner Drummond took a more centrist approach:
He bragged, boasted and babbled about all the work he’s done as Attorney General to crack down on illegal grows, which is fine, but didn’t mention once that he’s for making any changes to actual medical marijuana laws or programs.
Basically, he seems like he just wants to leave it alone, which – Yippee! – is great. Say what you want about Gentner and his stance on some issues, at least he appears to be pragmatic and respectful of the will of the voters on this one.
Mike Massei shared a similar but more far-right-wing response.
Like Gentner, he dodged on whether Oklahoma’s medical marijuana laws should be changed or repealed, and instead pivoted to his concern about the national security threat black-market farms pose to our military bases because, you know… CHINA!
Yikes. What kind of paranoia strain is this guy on? Conspiracy Theory Kush? I’m no expert, but something tells me those scary “Chinese black-market marijuana farms”—like their hog farm cousins—are making way too much money here to risk messing up a good thing by launching attacks on U.S. soil.
Anyway, as mentioned earlier, the millionaires didn’t just use the debate to share their borderline extremist views on medical marijuana. They also rolled out a full sampler platter of alarming, ultra-conservative takes on a variety of topics. You can watch it all above.
Stay with The Lost Ogle. We’ll keep you advised.
