I’ve got some good news for all unceremoniously purged Paycom employees.
At least you don’t have to worry about bed bugs!
Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve received multiple emails and DMs from concerned Ogle Moles warning about a possible bed bug infestation at Paycom’s Northwest Oklahoma City headquarters.
As a public service to these employees – and all local exterminators, fumigators and that bed bug spray store on NW 23rd and Villa that could use some business – I thought I’d scratch beneath the surface and find out what’s allegedly crawling around the Paycom campus.
The first Ogle Mole Dispatch arrived last Friday, when a Paycom insider hit us up on the TLO Tip Line.
Here’s a snippet:
“Paycom headquarters have a bed bug infestation and are just sending employees home with no help or instructions. Been going on for a while. Employees were getting bites all over and they just found the cause today.”
The Mole then added this important disclosure:
“Not sure if it’s something y’all would care about, but Paycom sucks so…”
Normally, one anonymous tip from somebody who admits Paycom sucks wouldn’t be enough for us to call in the Orkin Man, but then another Ogle Mole reached out Wednesday with a similar story.
That person claimed workers were initially told only that the office had a vague “pest issue,” and that employees continued reporting bites after pest control supposedly treated the affected area.
"I just wanted to drop a helpful tip that the Paycom HQ office, specifically Building D, has a bed bug infestation and employees are being forced to stay on premises with no clear communication from management. Everything is hush hush despite team members being directly affected daily. Bed bugs were discovered last Friday and team members were sent home for a “pest issue” but leadership never clarified what it was."
If all this is true, you can’t blame Paycom for being a bit secretive with employees. They’ve worked really hard over the past few years to force employees back into the office, and they can’t let some bed bug crisis get in the way of that!
Or, more accurately, an alleged bed bug crisis.
To be clear, Paycom hasn’t publicly acknowledged a bed bug problem, and – unless somebody sends us a photo of Chad Richison wrestling with one – it’s difficult to prove what is or isn’t crawling around the campus!
I wonder how many acres of rainforest we had to destroy to have AI make that image? It would be interesting to find out!
Anyway, accusing a company of having bed bugs and failing to properly inform or protect its employees is both a serious allegation and, in Paycom’s case, a very believable one.
As a result, I reached out to the company’s PR team to ask whether bed bugs had been discovered on campus, what steps had been taken to eliminate them and – once again, as a public service – to see if they’ve hired an exterminator.
