The Oklahoma County DA has finally filed charges in the News 9 Peeping Tom case we first broke over a month ago.
On May 12th, creepy video voyeur Darrell Vannostran – the award-winning former News 9 chief photographer who allegedly hid cameras inside the station’s private dressing rooms to film coworkers in various stages of undress – was charged with 21 felony counts of taking clandestine photographs.
According to court documents, which we obtained and embedded at the end of this post, seven people were allegedly victimized by Vannostran.
I’ll let Nolan Clay with The Oklahoman explain:
Oklahoma City police say seven victims were identified during an investigation into who hid cameras in the dressing rooms of Oklahoma City television station KWTV…
The victims were identified in the criminal case only by their initials…
"Review of ... video footage confirmed the cameras had been functioning and had recorded multiple individuals in the dressing room areas, locations in which privacy is normally anticipated," a police investigator reported in the court affidavit.
"Out of more than 2,000 recordings, seven (7) victims were identified who appeared in stages of undress or whose private areas were captured."
Holy shit! Two thousand recordings? No wonder it took investigators so long to figure this out. That’s a lot of creepy video footage to scroll through, especially when it’s coming from an award-winning photographer:

Seriously, look at that little creep. I bet even the mites living in his beard are grossed out by his behavior.
In the police affidavit, investigators broke down each of the 21 charges. Here’s a table showing who was victimized and when:

As you can see, Victim 1 was allegedly targeted the most with six recordings, while a couple of the other victims were allegedly recorded four times.
Obviously, the natural human rubberneck question here is: “Who are these victims?” Police identified them only by their initials, and honestly, you don’t need to work at Scotland Yard to connect some dots. If you really want to read the affidavit and do your own digging, feel free.
I will say that some of the victims – both male and female – are well-known local media personalities we’ve covered on this site before, and our thoughts genuinely go out to them. This has to be an incredibly weird, creepy, violating thing to go through.
Seriously, imagine finding out you were allegedly filmed by this candlelit weirdo:

Yikes. I don’t know what’s scarier – the photos themselves, or the fact this guy apparently talked another human being into taking them.
That said, you have to admit the whole dark candlelit medieval-wizard aesthetic fits him surprisingly well. Honestly, OKCPD should have leaned into it for the mugshot:

According to Oklahoma law, Vannostran faces up to five years in prison and a $5,000 fine for each felony count, so yeah – if convicted, he could be looking at a very lengthy prison sentence.
Anyway, we’ll continue to follow this case as it winds its way through the courts.
