Stitt’s “She Troll” Returns to Oklahoma Politics!

Bottle up your liberal tears and hide the Lake Hefner goats! Stitt’s very own “She Troll” has returned to Oklahoma politics!

Well, at least she has in a keyboard-warrior sense!

Last week, I was looking through X and stumbled across a tweet from Carly Bird Atchison – Stitt’s former communications chief who made a name for herself by trolling Democrats, liberals, and the media during the pandemic-era days of the Stitt administration – attacking Oklahoma gubernatorial candidate Chip Keating for indirectly criticizing his and her old boss:

Just like hearing an old band release a new song, that was kind of cool. It brought back memories – both good and bad – but with a refreshing new feel.

Seriously, after all those years of watching Carly attack local journalists, teachers, public health officials, and any other liberal hobbit who dared cross her bridge, it’s kind of neat to see her finally crawl out from under it and harass an Oklahoma Republican.

Although Carly has struck a critical tone when addressing Chip – and, at times, Gentner Drummond – she seems to be all aboard the Charles McCall train, frequently resharing and promoting his campaign work:

In addition to McCall, she’s also heavily promoting a fledgling candidate for Oklahoma’s 1st Congressional District. His name is Nathan Butterfield:

Anyway, when I noticed all this, I got curious.

Why does Carly suddenly seem so invested in Oklahoma politics again? Last I checked, she apparently lives in Virginia, which means she can’t vote in our elections, drive on our turnpikes, or legally complain about the weather here like the rest of us.

That’s when I noticed Carly has a new consulting company – Bird’s Eye Consulting – where she appears to be selling her unique brand of conservative communications, digital strategy, and political warfare.

For giggles, I checked out the website:

I’m not going to lie, if I were a conservative politician trying to connect with loony voters with fringe, uncompromising right-wing views and opinions, I’d consider hiring Carly. She definitely speaks their love language.

Apparently, Kevin Stitt agrees.

Carly’s website features two glowing endorsements, and both are from familiar Oklahoma names.

One of them is from Carly’s old boss – Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt.

Yep, Carly is “smart, competent, and aggressive,” which is probably the polite way of saying she knows how to yell at journalists on the internet while pretending it’s a communications strategy.

Stitt also says Carly “hates losing,” which is kind of funny considering she, like Stitt, backed Ron DeSantis over Trump. Oops.

In addition to Stitt, Carly’s site features just one other endorsement. Curiously enough, it comes from Stitt’s old business partner, political crony, and favorite recurring subplot – Bond “Pork Chop” Payne. You know, the guy at the center of the billion-dollar Stitt grift!

Yep, nothing to see here. We just have the guy at the center of the latest big Stitt grift casually admitting, in testimonial form, that when his private business interests “intersect with the public realm,” he chooses Carly Atchison.

I guess we’ll keep that in mind the next time he issues a statement explaining his involvement in the billion-dollar Stitt grift!

I don't know, Bond. As a wise women once said, if you're explaining in politics... you're losing.

Anyway, I guess the question here is whether Carly’s renewed interest in Oklahoma politics is coming from a genuine, heartfelt place, or if she’s simply monetizing that interest through Bird’s Eye Consulting.

I suppose I could ask her directly, but the last time I interacted with Carly online, her trolling got the best of me and I nearly got canceled, so I think I’ll pass.

Either way, I’m just going to assume this isn’t being done out of the goodness of her conservative heart. There’s a lot of overlap between Stittworld and McCallworld, and it wouldn’t surprise me if they’re sending some food scraps – possibly in the form of consulting fees and billy goats – her way.

Then again, does it really matter?

Whether she’s being paid or not, if Carly is going to spend the next year trolling Republicans instead of reporters, teachers, and public health officials, maybe we should all just sit back and enjoy the show. It’s not every day you get to watch a bridge troll wander into a GOP primary and start charging both sides a toll.

Stay with The Lost Ogle. We’ll keep you advised.
