The Stitt Loyalty Grift is still paying off well for some rural Oklahoma Republicans!
Last week, Governor Stitt announced that Nellie Sanders will serve as his latest Oklahoma Secretary of Education. She replaces Katherine Curry, who resigned from the position after just three months upon learning that Ryan Langston-Walters is indeed a psycho.
Nellie is the wife of former Lawmaker Mike Sanders from Kingfisher. Mike – a former lawmaker – made headlines last year when Stitt overstepped in and scored him a $180,000 job leading the Oklahoma Broadband Commission, despite the board wanting to hire someone else.
Between Mike’s $180,000 salary and the $65,000 Nellie earns to serve as Education Secretary, that means the Sanders family now rakes in $245,000 a year on the state payroll!
That’s not bad for a couple of rural, small-government conservatives with awkwardly shaped chins!
Yikes! When they kiss, it probably makes a clunking sound like two empty coconut shells being banged together! I bet they met at the Kingfisher Chapter of the Big Ole' Chins Support Group!
To be clear, I know mocking someone’s physical appearance is frowned upon in today’s society, but they're right-wing government leechers who want to destroy public education, so who cares, right?
Plus, all I'm doing is pointing out the obvious. Mike’s chin is large and massive and looks like a rock face that a free solo climber would try to conquer, whereas Nellie’s is narrow, curved, and pointy like Count Chocula, or better yet, the old McDonald’s Mac the Knife moon man guy:
Regardless of what’s going on with the chins, if you’re an ultra-right-wing conservative Oklahoman who wants to see public education dismantled and destroyed from the inside, and flipped into a privatized patchwork scheme primarily composed of religious private charter school grifts funded by taxpayer vouchers, you have to be pleased by the appointment!
Nellie recently served on the Statewide Virtual Charter School Board, where she voted to approve the creation of the nation’s first unconstitutional public religious charter school, St. Isidore of Seville.
Here’s what she said about her new job:
"It's a privilege to be part of Governor Stitt's cabinet as the Secretary of Education," Sanders said. "In an era where one-size-fits-all education falls short, my mission is to revolutionize our approach, ensuring every child finds a pathway to success tailored to their unique needs. My goal is to empower parents with choices and support teachers in unleashing their full potential — moving beyond the constraints of politics and bureaucracy.
“Gov. Stitt's commitment to educational freedom resonates deeply with me. It's about creating a landscape where every student, irrespective of their background or learning style, is valued and prepared for the future. I'm thrilled to contribute my insights and experience, championing reforms that will equip Oklahoma's students not just for today's job market, but for the dynamic opportunities of tomorrow."
Translation: She wants to use taxpayer dollars to fund religious private schools.
It will be interesting to see how Nellie uses her position to take on evil teachers, fight culture wars, and fund religious private charter schools. I'm also curious to see if this will springboard her Oklahoma political career.
Nellie comes from a political family, so politics are in her blood. In fact, her great-grandmother is Nellie Tayloe-Ross – the former governor of Wyoming, and the first-ever woman to be elected Governor of a US State.
Check out these photographs and prepare to be freaked out:
Yikes! I know some Oklahoma family trees can run in a semi-straight line, but how is it possible for someone to look so much like their great-grandmother? Is there a flaw in the simulation, or did some time traveler go back in time and have twins in two different centuries? Whatever the explanation, it's as disturbing as voting to have the state fund a Catholic private school!
Anyway, we’d like to wish Nellie the best of luck in her new role and hope she has lots of fun helping Stitt, Ryan Walters, and all the other private school grifters who desperately want to use taxpayer dollars to fund private religious schools accomplish their goals.
