Well, that was a quick summer fling.
Earlier today, Kevin Stitt’s office announced that Dr. Katherine Curry – the “Edupreneur” who he appointed as his State Secretary of Education back in April – has already hit the ejection seat, resigning after three or so months on the job.
The local media QUICKLY SPREAD Stitt’s press release about the news earlier today:
Here’s Stitt’s statement:
That’s pretty weak, but in all fairness, what do you say about someone who either quits or gets fired after three months on the job? That’s barely long enough to score a birthday lunch with your co-workers, much less a going-away card that’s passed around the office for everyone to sign. If you’re leaving after three months, good luck and good riddance.
Here was Dr. Curry’s statement:
Translation: “This place is crazy. Get me the hell out of here!”
Seriously, is there any sane person in Oklahoma education who would want to work with Ryan Walters and Kevin Stitt? I bet her first task as Education Secretary was to cede the Tulsa Public Schools to Oral Roberts and move the Department of Education to Falls Creek!
Here’s the resignation letter she sent to Stitt and Co. It was obtained and shared online by KFOR's Kaylee Olivas. Hopefully, Matt Langston didn’t run it through Chat CPT to catch leakers:

First of all, I don’t know if Dr. Curry voluntarily resigned or if she was forced out by Stitt. It could be a bit of both. You know, kind of like the time I got mad and walked off a shift at Applebee’s. I told people I quit, while the manager maintained I was fired.
Either way, I’d bet you a Bourbon Street Steak and a slice of Boboli bread that Dr. Curry saw the freak show around her, and thanks to the recent attempts by Walters to gleefully ignite WWE-level controversy into the OSDE and further inject religion into public education, got the hell out and went back to her safe space at OSU. Well, at least that’s what I hope, because then it would show that some people out there still have some integrity.
Of course, that’s optimistic thinking.
Stitt could be forcing Dr. Curry out because she takes her job too seriously, while he’s just looking for a puppet to ignite controversy and fight various culture wars.
Whatever the reason, I guess Stitt better get to work finding a new nominee. The new school year is only weeks away, and the sooner he can get one of his cronies to work sabotaging things, the better it will go for him.
