Last Friday, our newest proofreader Atticus P. Titsworth – Sparkle's distant cousin – marched into my mom's basement with some sad news.
He had been offered a higher-paying job with KOKH Fox 25 and had to quit immediately.
Although we routinely out-scoop local news channels and can match them in online reach, name recognition, and engagement, we can't compete with their corporate pocketbooks when it comes to hiring people and paying actual salaries, so we had to wish Atticus well.
Fortunately, it looks like Atticus is picking up with them where he left off with us. For example, check out this screengrab our old pal Rob O. recently shared:
Yep, they only had three typos/ mistakes in one little news chyron – "Domino's," "delivery" and "for." I believe that's two fewer than Channel 25 would generally include in blurbs before Atticus arrived, so it's nice to see he's already making an impact.
Anyway, we wish Atticus the best of luck at Channel 25. I have to admit we're kind of jealous that he gets to hang out with Wendy Suares, Katie Arata and, uhm, Tim Chasnovakov at employee functions and mixers, but it's nice to know he'll now get a cushy local TV salary to help pay the bills.
