Even though the first primary election is less than a year away, things have been kind of slow on the 2026 Oklahoma gubernatorial election front.
But that may change relatively soon.
According to some Moles, long-rumored 2026 gubernatorial candidate Chip Keating – Son of Frank – may still toss his hat into the ring, but he’s apparently been too focused on his side gig as a bench coach for the Queen Bee’s softball team to fully commit to a campaign.
In addition to that, Ryan Walters – Son of Lucifer – is “expected” to announce his official candidacy relatively soon, probably from the front steps of that shutdown adult video arcade on NW 23rd Street.
When Ryan announces his candidacy, we – and the rest of the Oklahoma media – will be sure to let you know where and when the official announcement will take place, and if you’ll need to be 18 to enter.
While we wait for those two guys to put up or shut up, the only real news to come out of the race is that Charles McCall – the snoozy former Speaker of the House who’s polling at a lowly 5% – has received the endorsement of the National Women’s Prayer and Voting Army.
They endorsed him because he was Speaker of the House for eight years, where he played a pivotal role in watching Oklahoma sink closer and closer to the bottom of just about every ranking that matters:

Yep, that’s right.
Charles McCall may not have much of a chance to be our next Governor, but he does have prayer!
Anyway, two quick thoughts about this endorsement:
1. With all the problems in the world today, I bet all those prayers for Charles McCall get pretty annoying for God. He probably complains about it to all the angels in heaven:
“Hey God! Come out to the pool! We’re about to play volleyball!”
“I’ll be out in one sec, Michael! These people from Oklahoma won’t stop praying for that boring guy to be governor. Me almighty, won’t they give it a break?”
2. Do endorsements like this even matter? Like, what type of person would actually care about what some goofball organization with a silly name thinks about the Oklahoma governor’s race?
Actually, I have that answer:

So, to answer my earlier question: I guess endorsements do matter… if only to help you figure out who not to vote for.
Sadly, instead of explaining to the Prayer Army that he doesn’t even have a David vs. Goliath's chance of winning the primary – and is likely only running so he can return political favors and funnel leftover campaign cash to consultants – McCall encouraged the prayer warriors to keep bowing their heads:

Dear God, can this man do anything that’s not stiff, boring, and unoriginal? Faith, family, and freedom? If that sounds familiar, congrats – you survived Mary Fallin’s reign of incompetence. And – un-congrats – like me, you’re still here to talk about it.
Anyway, we wish Charles McCall the best of luck in his gubernatorial run… at least until he drops out and endorses Ryan Walters.

Until then, stay with The Lost Ogle. We’ll keep you advised.
