Religious Homeschool Mom Ditches State School Board…

The Evangelical school board member has yet to attend a board meeting.

12:06 PM EST on February 27, 2023

Last week, State School Superintendent Ryan Walters held his second school board meeting of 2023.

Highlights of the meeting include Ryan establishing a committee to protect Christianity in public schools, removing the word “diverse” from academic standards, openly questioning whether students should attend Oklahoma colleges, and declaring his agency that is where “woke goes to die.”

You know, typical right-wing moronic buffoon culture warfighter stuff.

At the meeting, Ryan had the full backing of the Oklahoma State School Board – the who’s who mix of Oklahoma grifters, culture wars fighters, and biblical indoctrinators who eagerly want to help Stitt and Walters destroy public education from the inside. You can read our profile of the school board members here.

That being said, one School Board Member was conspicuously absent from the meeting – Marla Hill.

Here she is with Crazy Carol Hefner.

Marla was added to the school board back in January. As we mentioned in our profile, she’s an Evangelical anti-abortion religious radical whose big claim to fame is that she’s homeschooled all 5 or 8 or 10 of her children.

If you think it’s weird that Stitt would put a religious zealot who went out of her way to not send her kids to Oklahoma public schools on a board that oversees Oklahoma public education, well, welcome to Oklahoma and join the club.

According to YawnDoc, this is the second time in a row that Marla has missed a State Board of Education meeting. In fact, she hasn’t attended a meeting since she was added to the board, which means she’s not technically a sworn-in member.

Asked after today’s meeting where Hill has been, State Superintendent of Public Instruction Ryan Walters said he did not know.

-

“Yeah that, I don’t know,” Walters said. “I don’t know why she wasn’t able to attend.”

-

Walters also said he does not know if Hill will be at the board’s next meeting, March 23.

For what it's worth, I’m hearing whispers via the Ogle Mole Network that Marla may have already stepped down from the Board of Education, which may explain her absence.

I have no clue if these rumors are true or not – I’m still trying to verify them – but her spectacularly bizarre “bio” is still online at the OSDE website.

It’s written more like a resume cover letter than an “about me" and you can check it out below.

When you do, please remember she was applying to be on a state board that oversees public education, and not a committee to create curriculum for a Vacation Bible School:

Marla Hill is a follower of Jesus Christ, a business entrepreneur, married to the love of her life, Brian Hill, and is the homeschool mother of five “world changers”: Holden, Heston, Brianna, Brayden and Sienna. She enjoys the risk-taking adventure of finding an idea to serve others, taking it to the marketplace, trusting God and working hard to make it take flight. From the beginning of their marriage, Brian and Marla have worked together to make the world better, both in the marketplace as well as their home. She feels blessed and challenged by Brian’s philosophy to live as a “steward” of all that God has entrusted to their care for the benefit of the next generation. In fact, it has been Marla’s childhood dream, birthed from the teachings of her public-school teacher, who instilled innate value and worth in her through sharing the vision of the founding forefathers’ ideals that all people were made in the image of God and “all men are created equal”. Learning these principals awakened a belief in her that she could do all things through Christ, that nothing was impossible when the Lord grants you a dream. Taking those faith-risks in the marketplace became her “testing ground” of trusting God.

-

Over the past 30 years, troubled by the fast moral decay of our country and its schools, she decided to step off the frontline of the marketplace to accept the responsibility of raising her children and teaching them herself of these God-given values. This brought a humbling journey of studying many curriculums and learning methods to accommodate the varied needs of her high energy and slow-to-read learners. One of the main principals she learned as a school teacher is that the child's academic development is directly tied to their own internal drive and desire to “want” to learn. She believes this begins with the knowledge that they are worthy, valuable and equal to every other human being and there is nothing that they can’t achieve when they trust and believe in God.

-

Intrigued at the fast pace of bold Marxist ideologies prevalent in the public schools, she began to study the methods of this advance and how America went from teaching the American dream of accepting responsibility, work hard, dream big and take a risk to that of a timid, fear-based, victim mentality that chooses entitlements over creativity and ingenuity. Her legal education has given her insights to solutions that are out of the norm, and her childhood dream of standing with America's forefathers has been ignited by the courage of Governor Stitt and many other leaders to step into the fight and be the “turnaround” that our state and country needs. It would be her privilege and honor to serve our country, the great state of Oklahoma and the State Superintendent, Ryan Walters, to become the example to America of how to invest into our nation’s most precious commodity, our youth, and watch them fly to the top.

Thank you for your time and consideration. With God’s help, we can do this together.

Yep, Kevin Stitt and Ryan Walters received a letter like that from someone and said “Fuck it! Let’s put her on the State School Board."

Anyway, I think I’m going to speak for most sane and rational people when I say that it’s probably a good thing the home school church lady who seems opposed to the concept of public education and honestly believes Marxist ideologies are prevalent in the public schools has ditched her gig on the State School Board.

I think I’m also going to speak for most sane and rational people when I say that it’s terrifying for our state’s kids that the people who picked her will also get to choose her replacement.

Well, that is if she needs to be replaced.
