Before we sign off for the weekend and start combing through all the emails we've received over the past week about the Oklahoma film industry and Ryan Walters's continued culture war fight against Oklahoma public education, I've got some cool news to announce!
Last weekend, our friends at Robot House won an Addy Award for their awesome re-brand of The Lost Ogle logo and identity!
In addition to that, they won a bronze Addy for the new Hoot Industries brand and a gold Addy for the cool owl illustration Lauren Mayhew whipped up for it.
Here's the Robot House Instagram post about the awards:
I like to make fun of industry awards, and the Addy's aren't any different, but I'll admit it's pretty cool to see something semi-related to The Lost Ogle win an award that's not part of some gimmicky "Best Of" publication.
Sure, my only contribution to the project was to get out of the way and let the industry professionals we hired do all the work, but as a former corporate marketing guy, I can tell you that's way harder than it looks.
Everyone thinks they're a marketing expert, and all it takes is one unqualified executive opinion or a round or two of corporate groupthink to sabotage a re-brand. Basically, don't create a logo committee or let stupid egos get in the way, otherwise you'll get something like this:
Once again, I'd like to thank Brian Winkeler (<---- Notice the extra 'e') and the Robot House team for working with a poor client like us and producing fabulous results.
If you're looking to create a new corporate identity or need to hire a new ad agency, I couldn't recommend them enough.
Stay with The Lost Ogle. We'll keep you advised.
