Oklahoma Lawmaker arrested for DUI. Asks to call Stitt.

He was the guy leading the State House investigation into the Swadley's Foggy Bottom Swindle.

Another Oklahoma lawmaker is in the news for all the wrong reasons.

Earlier today, Ben Felder with The Oklahoman reported that State Representative Ryan Martinez – the Edmond lawmaker who led the House investigation into the Swadley’s Foggy Bottom Swindle – was arrested and charged with a DUI outside The Patriarch in Edmond last week.

It’s the second time that Martinez has been arrested on DUI charges. If he gets a third, I think he gets automatically promoted to the Senate!

Here’s his mugshot:

I, admittedly, have never taken a mugshot, but if or when I ever do, I'm going to avoid giving my "Lay the Smackdown" face.

According to the police report, Martinez showed up to The Patriarch shit-faced last Wednesday and the venue refused the serve him. He then went outside to his car, puked, and the cops were eventually called.

When they arrived, Martinez was apparently parked outside the venue, sitting in the driver's seat with the car turned on. When approached, he gave the cops the “I only had a couple of beers and live a few blocks away” excuse – a classic line that drunks have been muttering for ages.

The cops didn’t buy it, and before you could say “Winchester Burger,” Martinez was outside the car, stumbling and mumbling his way through a field sobriety test.

Towards the end of proceedings, when all hope was lost and he was painfully aware he was about to go to jail, he pulled a Tommie Harris and name-dropped the same person he recently referred to as a racist – Governor Stitt…

Anyone else think it’s weird that Kevin Stitt’s become the go-to guy for drunks trying to get out of alcohol-related offenses? If I was pulled over for DUI in Edmond, I’d say I was friends with Shannon Miller!

Anyway, I’ve included a link to the full police report here if you want to read it. In the next couple of days, expect Martinez to issue the standard DUI apology, announced he’s going to rehab, and all that fun stuff.
