Welcome to this week’s Dumpster Fire! Things felt slow this week, but that’s probably because my brain – like yours – is still adjusting to the holiday break.
Before I get to all the news stories thrown on this fire, I do have one question for The Ogle Mole Network: Why did John Waldron really resign as chair of the Oklahoma Democratic Party?
The Oklahoma Democratic Party has announced a new Chair following Representative John Waldron's resignation due to personal reasons.https://t.co/Mff9fFy51R

Back in December, the State Rep cited personal reasons, but according to a Mole or two, the personal reasons may have had something to do with weird – and suggestive – AI creations he showed to a candidate running for office. If you have scoop on this, let us know!
Here’s some more:
Shelby Love lands at News 9
Well, that didn’t take long.

I totally endorse the inclusion of more attractive, well-spoken females who don’t eat a lot of food on our broadcast airwaves. It’s time they finally catch a break! We wish her the best.

Gentner Grandstands on Broken Arrow Mosque
My office will investigate whether a proposed mosque and commercial development in Broken Arrow complies with Oklahoma law and applicable federal statutes. Given the realities of global terrorism, there can be no compromise on public safety and security. https://t.co/SoJXpR6fUb pic.twitter.com/L9G1D06IPj

I thought mosque outrage peaked with the Ground Zero mosque, but at least for Oklahoma in an election year, I don’t see it going away. We just have too many racist politicians and voters not to see it milked for all it’s worth.

Jason Witten hired at OU
Former Dallas Cowboys great Jason Witten is joining the OU coaching staff, where he’ll replace the fledgling Jo Jon Finley.

I have no clue if this is a good hire, but it sure is a cool one. Also, I wonder what happened to all the naked photos Jo Jon had of Brent Venables? That’s how he was able to stay on that long, right?

George Tomak passed away
Longtime OKC news anchor and hearing aid spokesperson George Tomak passed away last week.
RIP George Tomek. When you think of old school TV anchors, he was the guy. Great dry wit and wonderful person. Tried to have me hired out of the market when we were competitors, lol. Got to be good friends later on when we "competed" for free lance gigs. Peace to his family. pic.twitter.com/alBgEWxmfD

I remember George from the tail end of his news career, and even then – with his baritone voice and trustworthy presence – he came across as the quintessential honest and trusted newsman. RIP.

Hard to believe that the restaurant group that built a building facing the wrong direction couldn’t make it.

Tom Cole seems kind of sane
It says a lot about the current state of the country when Tom Cole – a longtime neo-con who’s helped screw over the American working class for over a quarter century – suddenly seems like one of the more sane and noble politicians out there.

State Keeps Measles a Mystery
Former TLO podcast guest George Monks has been riding around the countryside like Paul Revere, warning every media outlet that will listen that Stitt still won’t allow the state to release measles data.

Although I like George, I’m Team Stitt on this one. Who doesn't want to go to “Who Has the Measles?” themed Mystery Theatre in Guthrie!

Oklahoma Ranked 45 in UnitedHealth Ranking
On the topic of health, anytime there’s a ranking of the healthiest and least healthy states, you know which column Oklahoma will land in, and this isn’t any different:

The cool thing about this UnitedHealth ranking is they kept things positive and listed some “strengths” where we excel. They are low prevalence of excessive drinking, high number of mental health providers per 100,000 population, and – to the joy of Clark Matthews – a low incidence of chlamydia.

That's weird. I though they would have gone with our lack of any reportable measles cases
