Notorious Norman Politician Jailed for “Direct Contempt” in OK County Courtroom…

One of Norman’s most notorious politicians has something new to expunge from his record!

Yesterday afternoon, Kelly Lynn – the former Norman City Council member, State Senate candidate, and infamous grandma assaulter – was booked into the Oklahoma County Jail to serve five days on “direct contempt” charges.

According to Yawn Doc, Lynn – a lawyer currently serving as a municipal court judge for the city of Wewoka – became unruly during a courtroom proceeding, exhibiting “aggressive and disruptive conduct” toward a judge and a defense attorney.

Notably, Lynn was also carrying a firearm. Thanks to Oklahoma statutes, judges are apparently allowed to bring a gun just about anywhere they want in Oklahoma, including courthouses. Freedum!

Here’s his mugshot:

Yikes! Even Matt Gaetz is scared of those eyebrows! If the whole judge and lawyer gig doesn’t pan out, at least Kelly’s already audition-ready for an acting role in American History X: Oklahoma Breakdown.

We’ve covered Kelly Lynn and his various antics over the years, so it’s safe to say this news isn’t surprising.

As we first and only reported, he has a checkered past, including an expunged rap sheet with drug and counterfeiting charges. Then, in 2022, while serving on the City Council, he made headlines for taking on a 66-year-old grandmother at a neighborhood Louie’s Bar and Grill

After that incident, Lynn made news again with racist comments at a city council meeting.

Eventually, Norman voters wised up and voted him out of office. But since Oklahoma’s a full-fledged Idiocracy these days, he was rewarded with a judgeship in Wewoka.

As I mentioned, this story was funneled by William H.P. Nathaniel Archibald “Trey-Tres-Trio” Savageman III & IV & Vth of Yawn Doc, who covered the incident in his trademark long and meandering style.

If you’ve got a cup of extra-strong coffee and some time to kill while your Thanksgiving turkey thaws, check it out here. Here’s a snippet of what actually happened:

Ryan Sullivan, the first assistant public defender in Oklahoma County, attended Lynn’s contempt hearing in front of Stinson at 11 a.m. Thursday. Although he did not witness Lynn’s actions in front of Siderias, Sullivan discussed the testimony given by Siderias and four attorneys, including public defender Katie Carter, who had drawn Lynn’s ire in court.

“He was upset about something, I guess, and she didn’t like the way he was talking to her in court. He, by his own admission, was cursing at her,” Sullivan said. “She basically requested just to approach the judge. The judge testified to this as well. She went forward, and the judge pretty much told him, ‘Don’t talk to lawyers like that.’”

Sullivan said that admonishment of Lynn “set him off.”

“He became belligerent. He was warned that he was going to be held in contempt, then he was held in contempt because he didn’t stop,” Sullivan said of the testimony. “He made some sort of statement to the effect of, ‘I’ve got something for you, too,’ to the judge. The judge clearly did not feel safe, by his own testimony, and deputies escorted him upstairs. He had a loaded firearm. He claims he has the right to have it in the courthouse.”

Based on Lynn’s behavior – and the shenanigans of the shoot-‘em-up judge from Enid – maybe it’s time lawmakers either:

A) Stop allowing judges to carry guns wherever they want, or
B) Instill armed school teachers in every courtroom.

Anyway, Lynn will be in Oklahoma County Jail – the equivalent of the pit from Batman Returns – for the next four days. Hopefully, this time will inspire some reflection, motivating him to get help for his anger management issues.

But let’s be honest: he’ll probably just use it as an opportunity to blame the “woke nanny state” for being scared of his alpha male attitude and share counterfeiting tips with fellow inmates.
