Over the past couple of weeks, the US cable news media – and the people who still watch them – have had their eyes, ears, and courtroom artists glued to the Trump trial in New York City.
Although I know the general summary, I really haven’t been paying close attention to the proceedings.
This is partly because I’ve had Trump fatigue since about the third season of The Apprentice, and now have full-blown Trump Avoidance Syndrome. Seriously, if you want to get me to change a channel or, even more importantly, check out of a conversation, bring up Donald Trump.
Plus, in the whole scheme of things, does any of it matter?
Trump has survived about a million scandals, lawsuits, and accusations over the years without suffering any consequences. I really doubt The Donald using campaign funds to pay a porn star to be quiet about an affair is going to be the thing that brings him down.
Despite all this, the national media is still treating the case like the trial of century, bringing aboard any talking head available to discuss the case, or in the case of conservative outlets, do and say whatever they can to shield and defend Trump.
This includes former Oklahoma House Speaker T.W. Shannon.
Fox News brought the man who lost to both James Lankford and Markwayne Mullin out from the pasture to defend the former President.
T.W. didn’t waste any time, and quickly made sure to call Stormy Daniels a “whore.”
Well, at least in a biblical sense:
I was expelled from Vacation Bible School as a kid, so I – admittedly – am not very familiar with the “Biblical” usage of the word “whore,” but I’m going to go out on a limb and say it’s a derogatory word used to describe people who have sex with other people for money. If we’re calling a spade a spade, I guess a pornographic actress who gets paid to have sex with people for the viewing enjoyment of other people – like Fox News viewers – would qualify under those terms and conditions.
That being said, I bet the “Biblical” interpretation of whore is a bit more narrow and defined than the modern usage of the word.
For example, in modern times, you can use the word "whore" to describe people who accept money for any unsavory cause, act or practice.
For example, you can say things like “Patrick really whores himself out for TLO subscriptions” or “T.W. Shannon has really whored himself out for Donald Trump on Fox News!”
On that note, you’d think T.W.’s whoring around would have worked out better for T.W.
I mean, at least Stormy Daniels got some hush money from Trump’s campaign and has become a major-league celebrity.
Since T.W. started whoring himself on the Trump circuit, his star has fallen. He lost to a squatty beefcake plumber in his US Senate race and, according to this email I got a few months ago from an Ogle Mole, he's burned bridges with the tribe that employed him:
To be very clear, I haven’t verified or vetted any of the info in that email. I don't know if the accusations are true. It could all be B.S., but why would an Ogle Mole lie about it?
It’s definitely something one of our local non-profit media outlets that only produce a couple of stories a month should whore around and follow up on.
Until then, stay with The Lost Ogle. We’ll keep you advised.
