It looks like the Oklahoma GOP’s double-standards and general hypocrisy is finally going to work out for us!
As Oklahoma State Treasurer Todd Ross implements a flawed, inconsistent and poorly executed push to boycott “woke” banks that allegedly don’t support the Oklahoma fossil fuel industry, Enel – an Italian-based solar cell and panel manufacturer – announced yesterday they’re building a $1-billion factory near Tulsa!
As part of the deal, Enel will be eligible to cash in on $218.6-million in Oklahoma taxpayer subsidies, which I guess means Kevin Stitt and Oklahoma lawmakers are prioritizing a woke European solar energy company over the fossil fuel industry.
Crazy times, huh?
To sweeten the deal, Enel will also be eligible for federal subsidies and tax credits enacted by the anti-American, anti-jobs Biden Administration.
Here are details via The Tulsa World:
An international green energy company will build a solar panel manufacturing facility at the Tulsa Port of Inola in what is being called the largest economic development project in state history…
The Italian company expects to invest more than $1 billion in the new factory and create 1,000 new, permanent jobs by 2025. Enel says it may create another 900 jobs in a second phase of development...
Enel’s announcement comes mere days after Gov. Kevin Stitt signed into law a $218.6 million incentive package to seal the deal. Stitt and Oklahoma Department of Commerce officials have said Enel’s factory will be the biggest economic development project in the state.
That’s cool!
Even though 1) Enel is a woke company that celebrates diversity, equity and inclusion, and 2) Blackrock – one of the woke investment firms recently banned by State Treasurer Todd Ross – owns a 5% institutional stake in the company, it’s nice to see a company that’s not on the verge of bankruptcy actually choose to build a factory in Oklahoma!
Here is Stitt’s statement about the deal.
"Enel's expansion is a huge win for Oklahoma, and I'm thrilled by their record investment in our state's economy and workforce, that will have a lasting legacy and continue to impact Oklahomans for generations," Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt said in a statement
Wow. That was pretty canned and vanilla by Stitt communications standards. Usually, he tosses in a few digs at Joe Biden or the Wokes. I guess that’s pretty hard to do when you’re welcoming a woke foreign company that’s taken advantage of Biden’s policies to town. I guess even GOP hypocrisy has bounds!
