James Lankford announces he’s Pro-Choice now…

The 2022 Oklahoma US Senate race has taken a dramatic turn!
With multiple right-wing challengers salivating over his US Senate seat, James Lankford – our state's green-thumbed junior US Senator – boldly announced he's now pro-choice, and no longer in favor of the federal government getting involved in the private healthcare decisions of families and individuals, even when it comes to valuing and protecting the sanctity of life.
Check out the following press release he issued about the Stop Vaccine Mandates Act – a new piece of legislation he introduced this week in the US Senate:
Senator James Lankford (R-OK) today introduced the Stop Vaccine Mandates Act to repeal President Biden’s Executive Order which mandates vaccines for federal employees and federal contractors.
“Every American should be able to make the decisions that are best for them and their families. My family made the choice to get the vaccine and I encourage every Oklahoman to get vaccinated, but no American should be forced to be vaccinated. The Stop Vaccine Mandates Act rescinds Biden’s Executive Orders—no American should have to choose between their conscience, their health, and their job.”
Yep, "Every American should be able to make the decisions that are best for them and their families" and not "have to choose between their conscience, their health, and their job." I think the Texas women profiled in that NY Times piece on Oklahoma's booming abortio-tourism industry would agree with him!
Anyway, you do have to admit this is a shocking development.
From the moment he stepped foot in Washington, James Lankford has always been a hard-core anti-abortion advocate, fighting hard for federal rules and regulations that restrict a woman's right to make her own private and personal medical decisions. Knowing that, you'd think he'd be consistent in his thoughts and views, and totally be fine with the federal government mandating safe and effective vaccines for federal employees and contractors to help stop a virus that's killed 1 in 500 Americans.
I guess this just goes to show that people's views on issues can change and evolve over time, especially when they're desperately fighting to maintain their pedestal of power in the US Senate. Say what you want about James Lankford, but he's no spineless hypocrite who changes his thoughts and opinions based on what's politically convenient! Now that he's fully in the pro-choice camp, and officially against the government telling people what they can or cannot do to their own bodies, an endorsement from Planned Parenthood can't be too far behind.
