Earlier this week, we got a tip via The Ogle Mole Network that former News 9 reporter Steve Shaw is back on TV as a reporter for... OETA.
Yep, that's right. Steve Shaw – the grizzled TV vet who reports his news tough and raw like a trucker eating a cheap steak – is now working for the Oklahoma Educational Television Authority.
Although that fit may seem as natural as Linda Cavanaugh working as a ringside announcer for Mid-South Wrestling, it looks like he's doing a good job. Check out this report he filed a few days ago about a new Tulsa highway construction project for the Oklahoma News Report:
That being said, instead of sending Steve out to cover road construction, I have a better idea for the people in charge of our state's public television – make him the new host of the OETA Movie Club!
Seriously, no offense to the current host whose name I don't even know, but Steve Shaw would do an incredible job. Sure, he'd probably trade out the patented tub of fresh buttered popcorn for a six-pack and cheap Dominos pizza, but the movie quality would improve immensely:
"Hey folks, we'll get back to Lethal Weapon III in a bit, but let's go ahead and take a look at some of our viewer mail. The first letter comes from our viewer Edith in Okeene. She had a comment about last week's film, Emmanuelle in Space. She asks..."
Seriously, who wouldn't watch that? During the annual OETA Fundraising Festival, he'd probably offer a bottle of Crown to anyone who donates over $200.
Anyway, we wish Steve Shaw the best of luck in his new gig. Stay with The Lost Ogle. We'll keep you advised.
