Over the past month or so, we've received lots of inquiries from local TV news viewers asking what happened to Eli Roberts.
If you don't know who or what an Eli Roberts is, don't worry, you're not alone. I didn't either, and I'm supposed to cover this stuff for a living!
Anyway, I guess Eli was that handsome-man KFOR news anchor who spent a lot of time hanging out with Joleen Chaney. Remember him?
Yeah, remember that dude? He also got to hang out with JoJo and Marla Morgan at one of their Pampered Chef parties:
I'll tell you, TV news guys get all the breaks. When Marla wants to hang out, she invites me to have cigars with her, Mike and Steve Lackmeyer at Junior's, but this guy gets to invited to parties that involve decorative paper arts, balloons and pirouettes. Not cool!
According to the Ogle Mole rumor mill, Eli was apparently let go from KFOR due to the struggles he had segueing to commercial breaks, the pools of sweat that would accumulate over his eyebrows during the weather, and an off-air confrontation he once had with Brent Skarky over who left the toilet seat up in the handicap bathroom.
Eli, however, had a different explanation:
Yep, he was a victim of the dreaded budget cuts. I don't think he's going to be the only TV news person to write these words in the coming years.
Eli apparently came to KFOR after working in Israel, so he was naturally and justifiably miffed that he spent a bunch of time and money to move to Oklahoma...only to have his position eliminated after one year. We'd like to wish Eli the best of luck in finding new work.
