Back in January, after an extended holiday break, I published a recap of notable news items that some of our readers may have missed. Buried at the bottom in the 10 spot was this cool personal nugget.
10. I’m going to be a dad!
I guess you can say I care more about our state’s education system now.
Over the holiday weekend, my significant other and I announced that we’ll be welcoming [a daughter] to the world in May. Yeah, that’s right. I’m going to be a dad. May Lord Gary England protect us.
Well, I guess time flies when you're having fun writing about the sad affairs of the state of Oklahoma. If everything goes according to plan – and it better – my daughter Harper will enter the world at around noon today. May the fourth be with her.
Obviously, this is a huge, life-changing experience. Over the next couple of weeks, I'm going to try my best to step away from writing for this website to learn how to change diapers, not sleep, and most importantly, enjoy the moment. I only plan on doing this once, so I might as well enjoy it.
While I'm trying to figure out how to be a not-bad dad, our mighty ban of contributors – Louis, Lucas, Hayley and Kim – will be covering the WTF Oklahoma beat. We're also welcoming back our old pal Marisa. I'll still be working behind the scenes, publishing posts, answering hate mail and muting Twitter trolls while probably holding a baby, but they'll be handling content.
Anyway, I guess I should wrap this one up and get to the hospital. I'll see you in a week or two or three. I promise I'll do everything in my power to not turn this site into a daddy blog when I return. Please don't do anything too dumb, Oklahoma. Please?
