December is shaping up to be one hell of a month in Oklahoma, especially if you're a nerd who likes football.
In less than 10 days, Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens at a movie theatre near you. Then on New Year's Eve, OU plays Clemson in the College Football Playoff. This means your New Year's celebrations will either be fun and awesome like a party in the Ewok Village, or sad and depressing like anything involving Jar Jar.
Some genius OU fan recently combined both of these highly anticipated events into one marvelous YouTube mashup. Check it out:
That's cool. The best part was the cut to Saban and Bear Bryant during the Kylo Ren monologue. That made me LOL. That being said, how did this play by Mayfield not make the cut? Also, where was the Bob Stoops Yoda dance? You combined a Star Wars trailer with 2015 OU football highlights and didn't include that? What a nerfherder! Missed the ball on that one the video creator did.
Adam Hawbaker took it upon himself to create an intensely awesome mashup of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” and OU football.
It might sound like an odd combination at first, but this isn’t your average hype video.
It follows the story of Baker Mayfield playing at Texas Tech and then walking on to the team at the University of Oklahoma.
It highlights game-changing plays against Tennessee, Baylor, Florida, LSU, TCU, and OSU, with a triumphant Star Wars musical track.
And it includes legendary quotes from the movie that match up with the video.
“Nothing will stand in our way…I will finish what you started.”
Uhm, can you really have "legendary quotes" from a movie that hasn't been released yet? Sorry, but I think we all need to watch the movie five or six times before determining what's the next "May the force be with you."
Anyway, not to be outdone, Kyle Porter with PistolsFiring.com put together this mashup of 2015 OSU highlights to the audio from the Phantom Menace trailer to get Pokes fans excited for Sugar Bowl:
Haha. Made you look! That was cruel. Remember back in 1999 when everyone totally geeked out over that cartoony excuse for a trailer, too? There's no way the Force Awakens will suck that bad, right? Right??? If so, I'm joining the Dark Side.
Anyway, December 17th and December 31st can't get here quick enough. Hopefully The Force Awakens exceeds expectations like this year's Sooner squad, and Baker Mayfield blows up the Clemson defense like an old Death Star.
