As a loyal Ogle Mole, you're probably aware that our State Fair Photo Contest is one of this site's more popular features. This year alone, our three contest posts received about 30,000 pageviews and over 10,000 total votes. The winning pic was Beauty and the Corn Dog.
It looks like a local media organization has noticed our contest's popularity. Channel 9 launched their first State Fair Photo contest this year. Here are the details:

Official Rules
Yeah, I know what you're thinking? What type of crazy, funny, "most unbelievable" photos would News 9 viewers submit to this thing. Well let me tell you. The answer is "kids," and lots of them. I'd guesstimate that 80% of the contest entries are pics of kids just hanging out at the fair. That's cool if you're that kid's parent, grandparent or a sicko, but no one else wants to see a pic of your kid at the fair petting zoo. It's like someone took every annoying kid picture of your Facebook timeline and vomited them all over the News 9 website.
That being said, there were some photos of non-kids. I selected my 10 favorite photos, published them, and criticized them in the name of "fair" use (eh?) after the jump.
Remember, all these photos are real entries to the News 9 contest.
The News 9 user submitted caption for this photo was "These are a few of my fair pics! I hope you enjoy them!Evie." The other options were "Photoshop Filters of the Damned" or "I have too much time on her hands!Evie"

Is that corn dog batter or melted ear wax? Whenever I look at that pic I hear someone in the background yelling "Jefffffff!"

Okay, this was the only decent photo in the contest. I call it "The Rape of Ogle." Also, do the photo editors know that the frat boy waving the double peace sign is insinuating a totally different type of...piece?
-
So I looked at the pictures, and no lie, the first thing that popped in my mind was Christian the Lion. What the hell is wrong with me?
-
What you can't see at the bottom of this pic are the prehistoric monkey men touching the monolith and developing tools.

That lady's sweater was so awful that everyone was forced to wear sunglasses. Also, did anyone else know that News 9 has a prize wheel? Why were we never notified of this? I'd like to spin it. You have to admit it would be cool to win Gary England's autograph or one of Dean Blevins' Smart Ones.

Nothing says classy like dressing up as a hooker and cowboy and getting your photo taken at the Oklahoma State Fair. And bathhouses sure have changed in the last 100 years. I went to that one in Shawnee that Spencer told me about and there wasn't one girl there.

Remember, this is a contest where users submit their own photos. That means someone really took a picture of free fair tickets, saved the image to their computer, and then submitted it to News 9 for a photo contest in hopes of winning $500. That's also most as scary as...

Dear God, make it stop, make it stop, MAKE IT STOPPPPPPPP!!!!!
I don't think I'm going to be able to sleep for a couple of weeks. That's the most frightening photo I've ever seen. I feel like I'm in a four-year-old's nightmare.

As Bob Stoops would say, I think this pic summarizes how I feel about Channel 9's photo contest in a very good way. Stay out of our territory, News 9. Leave the State Fair stuff to us.

You can view all of News 9's contest photos at their website. If you're bored at school or work, go their and give the tire in the mud pic five stars. I want it to win, and it may, because News 9 hasn't announced a winner yet. Based on the quality of the photos, I don't blame them.
