Weekend Radar: What to Do in OKC This Weekend

However much energy you have after the week took its pound of flesh, Oklahoma City has a way to spend it – whether that’s sitting in the dark contemplating life and death, wandering a couple free festivals, or racking up some easy parenting points at the zoo.

Here's a handful of happenings worth checking out this weekend...

Oklahoma Film Society Screening: Taste of Cherry
Fri. Apr. 17 | 7PM | Rodeo Cinema

If a quiet night out is your speed, catch tonight's Oklahoma Film Society screening of Abbas Kiarostami’s Palme d’Or-winning 1997 film Taste of Cherry at Rodeo. Stick around after the slow-burning Iranian drama for a drink and discussion with co-host and screenwriter John Selvidge – or sneak out for the comforts of tea and a respectable bedtime.

Earth Fest 2026
Sat. Apr. 18 | 10AM–3PM | Scissortail Park

OKC Beautiful has been quietly giving our city a glow-up since the 60s, but this weekend they're getting very loud. Saturday at Scissortail marks the 4th year of Earth Fest, the not-snoozy sustainability festival with fun activities, local vendors and a loud slate of live music to anchor the celebration in your bones. Free!

-

Farmer’s Market District Spring Fest
Sat. Apr. 18 | 10AM–4PM | OKC Farmers Market District

If you only have enough steam for one festival this weekend, it's definitely Earth Fest. But if you can push through the middle-age meh, the Farmers Market District is just up the road – swing by Spring Fest and see what's to love. Proximity bonus: Grab Loaded Bowl takeout on the way home and keep the good times rolling through dinner.

Vernardos Circus
All weekend | Multiple showtimes | Chisholm Creek

My parents used to encourage me to run away and join the circus. After watching the promo for this show, I regret not having taken them up on it. Vernardos is a traveling, animal-free circus featuring acrobats, aerialists, and theatrical performances under a classic big-top tent. They're pitching that tent in Chisholm Creek all weekend, and humans will be the only exploit. Tickets start at $20.

-

Dinosaur Expedition
All weekend | 9:30AM–4PM | OKC Zoo

Dinosaurs are one thing we can all get behind. The Dino Expedition at the OKC Zoo brings a little Land of the Lost nostalgia to an easy family adventure day, with towering animatronic dinosaurs lurking around every turn. This outdoor exhibit is free with admission and will delight the little people. Guaranteed to relieve general parental guilt by at least 33%.
