Time machine, anyone? Lyric just extended its run of Beehive, the high-energy theatrical escape to the 60s. This jukebox musical follows six women coming of age as the music of Aretha, Tina, Carole, Janis and The Supremes turned the airwaves into rebellion. Expect a permanent smile – and singing and dancing in the aisle. Pre-game with the Spotify soundtrack.

Welcome to the Year of the Dragon! Sunshine is in the forecast for the Lunar New Year Celebration on Saturday, with dazzling lion dances, hands-on activities for kids, and food trucks all bringing a vibrant buzz to downtown. It’s a free, easy excuse to get outside and into something festive.

MARDI GRAS AT THE MUSEUM

If you like your Mardi Gras celebration with more banjos than boobs, mosey over to the quirky American Banjo Museum in Bricktown on Saturday for a New Orleans–style night of jazz. Krewe de Banjo, featuring Johnny Baier, will bring the brass and the Big Easy vibes. Regrettably, this Mardi Gras party is G-rated.

WINTER BOOK SALE – Friends of the Metropolitan Library System

This is the Super Bowl for book nerds! The Metro Library's winter book sale is all the adventure of an obscure record shop hunt – but for literature. Free and open to the public on Saturday and Sunday, members get early access on Friday. If you're lucky, you might run into Louis Fowler.

CINNAMON ROLL COOKING CLASS

Learning to make cinnamon rolls from scratch could be a cozy way to stall the Sunday sweatpants spiral... at least until after you’ve eaten the whole pan. Don't let the plant-based, gluten-free ingredients turn you off – you can have eggs if want. Led by chef Emma Ryan, the class is $125 per person.
