Who’s ready for another four years of Thunder tweets, celebrity selfies, and dodging accountability on contentious issues while taking all the praise and credit on easy ones!
Last night, OCU Law School Dean David Holt – a.k.a. Mayor McSelfie – easily cruised to his third term as mayor of Oklahoma City by defeating some dude that Steve Hunt convinced to run by a whopping 86% - 14% margin.
Here are the details via the mayor himself:
THANK YOU, OKC! FOUR MORE YEARS!

Tonight, we received an overwhelming 86.5% of the vote - one point short of the all-time record! And I’m especially honored to become the fifth OKC Mayor elected to a third term.
This election is an overwhelming mandate. It is validation for… pic.twitter.com/7RTG3uXmvd
Yep, the OKC Renaissance is over and the Golden Age has begun! Can someone tell that to Devon or Expand Energy? Maybe then they'll stick around a little longer.
Although I like to criticize David Holt for being a bit of a sunshiny egotistical “Pick me! Pick me!” attention seeker who says the right thing in front of the cameras, but, behind the scenes, does all the dirty work for the local ruling class, I think he is a pretty good mayor for Oklahoma City from a national cheerleader perspective.
Say what you want about the guy – and there’s a lot to say – but with all the crazy politicians we have in this state, it’s refreshing to see a person from our largest city go on national TV and – instead of calling our teachers terrorists – promote our city while preaching a positive message about working together and bipartisanship.
Anyway, I guess it will be interesting to see how this third term shapes up for Holt – especially on the celebrity selfie front – and what he does when this next term concludes.
He’s naturally one of the biggest proponents of SQ 836 – the open primary bill that will make it easier for moderate candidates like himself to win elections – and if that passes, I imagine we’ll see him on a different ballot very soon.
Stay with The Lost Ogle. We’ll keep you advised.
