It's going to be apocalypse-hot this weekend in Oklahoma City. I suspect the best-laid plans may dissolve into air-conditioned surrender, but we're going to point you to the fun anyway.
Here are a few happenings that might be worth bearing the triple-digit price of admission...
TailSpin Music Fest ft Husbands + Letters to Cleo
Fri., Aug. 7 & Sat., Aug. 8 | Scissortail Park
Scissortail has hosted plenty of summer concerts, but this will be the park’s first-ever two-day music festival, and it could be worth the sweat.
TailSpin is free and kicks off on the lawn tonight (6-10 p.m.) with an all-OKC indie night headlined by Husbands. Saturday (4-10 p.m.) features more local and regional bands, capped by 90s alt-rock survivors Letters to Cleo – yes, the “Here & Now” band that rocked the park on Parks and Rec.

Bikini Trill
Fri., Aug. 7 | 8PM | Resonant Head
At first, I misread the promo and thought early-90s punk badasses Bikini Kill were coming to town. Which honestly sounds more like a band Resonant Head would book. Alas, I checked out this other bikini band – LA surf-pop trio Bikini Trill – and found a stoner’s delight: dreamy, bass-heavy reggae-pop that sounds like summer. They may be landlocked, playing an air-conditioned bar in Capitol Hill, but the vibe is 100% high on the beach.

Pagan Pride Fest
Sat., Aug. 8 | 10AM-6PM | State Fair Park
This one’s a festival for people into Pagan spiritual paths – they could be Hellenic, Heathen, Wiccan, Eclectic or simply blazing their own path to hell. If you don’t know what any of that means, it’s probably not for you. Expect live entertainment, workshops, drum circles, a walking labyrinth and a kids' activity area in case you bring the whole coven.
Like Gypsy Soul Fair but without the $9 cover, wellness branding, gimmicks and extremely appropriative name? Pagan Pride Fest is free, and the first 175 sinners get a swag bag.

Painted Tote Bag Class
Sat., Aug. 8 | Kids: 10AM, Olds: 12 Noon | Flora Bodega
If you’ve ever meandered through “the bodega,” as Flora Bodega is singularly known in my home, you’ve no doubt noticed the artist-original totes in the art market. I'm obsessed. Seems fitting this should be the place to learn the craft.
The workshop is held in the adjoining Flora Bodega Event Space, and you can register here. There are two classes, and the checkout process is super wonky, so be sure to sign up for the right one (kids, $35 – adults, $55).
