While my beloved dog Sean is the apple of my eye, I’ve grown to seriously love my wife’s cats, Sonja and Bellatrix. Their demeanors are completely different from Sean’s, but they’re part of our family, and every day is a treasure with them.
Good kitties, I say.
A visit to Don’t Stress Meowt in OKC a couple of years ago first opened my eyes to the magic of the cat café—but it wasn’t until a recent road trip to Guthrie that I found myself truly curious about what feline hospitality looks like outside the city limits.

When I heard about a charming cat cafe in Guthrie, I knew our day trip had to include a stop. Meow & Mocha, 315 W. Oklahoma Ave., is a whole new feline experience for me, from all the friendliest pussies—all 28 of them!—to the handcrafted refreshment station that provided all the sustenance we needed for the petting ahead.

With the set price of $12 per hour, my wife and I confirmed our reservations and waited impatiently by the door for the hour mark at the cat café snack bar to begin. That's when I heard the meowing, beckoning to us from behind a glass door as we counted down the time.

Finally, after a few ground rules were given by the staff, we took off our shoes and were ushered inside by our cat barista. Walking through the entrance, it looked like a warehouse loft filled with all the feline toys and games they could want.
Then, coming out of the dark and into the light, the hair-ball parade of different makes and models of cats splayed their wares for all to see.

From cats stretching across couches and chaises to others swatting from the highest perches at hands, fingers, and hair, it was a stellar spot to get to know each feline—even if just for a few minutes. A true catalog of characters and their adorable ways!
Every cat was a good one worthy of pets and pats, but I really liked the fattest cats in the bunch best. Birds of a feather, I’d say.

One extra fat cat came right down and laid on me like a seductive minx. I rubbed her tummy, and she curled up in my hand, her claws playfully pricking my fingers. If I didn’t already have two cats, this one would have sealed the deal for me!

These cute cats knew they were the stars of the show. This was made perfectly clear when my wife got a few squeezable cat-Gogurts for them, and they sat sweetly in her lap, slurping up every last drop. These babies are absolutely loved and perfectly adored!
Sadly, our hour flew by, and our time with the cats was up.
We pliantly slinked back into the café area—the real world—and put our shoes back on. Though the hour went by very fast, I felt pretty satisfied with my feline time, knowing I have cats, my own sweet cats, back home to appreciate more deeply.
By the time we were leaving, I was pretty parched from breathing in the cat dander. My wife and I wanted to try Meow & Mocha’s homegrown café, composed of feline-centric beverages and snacks for humans.

Under the header of “Purrectly” Fruity Teas, I chose the berry-forward Berry “Meowgic” featuring fruit jelly pearls, and paired it with a chocolate chip cookie. My wife chose the creamy “Meowlicious” Milk Tea selection, the Strawberry Tabby with traditional boba pearls, plus a strawberry cheesecake cake pop to complement it.

The sweets were pretty good, and the drinks were incredible, but let's be honest—this spot is all about the cats. At Guthrie’s charming Meow & Mocha cat cafe, you book an hour with their top-tier felines and watch the stress of our human world melt away. For a day trip escape from the city, it’s a surprising little stop that makes the whole journey feel worth it.
