Although he hasn’t been able to catch a break when it comes to winning a court case or landing a job in the Trump administration, Ryan Walters hasn’t skipped a beat when it comes to promoting himself in the right-wing Christian nationalist public education grifter circle.
For example, back in January, the day before Trump was inaugurated, Ryan flew out to Washington, DC, to participate in the Prager U “Make Education Great Again” conference.
There, while in front of his fellow Christian nationalist mouthbreathers, he got up on a stage and blatantly lied, telling the crowd that Oklahoma teachers, parents, and students love Prager U and its trademarked, totally legitimate curriculum that teaches everyone a rosy, white-washed, crystal-clear version of America’s history where everything is awesome and slavery wasn’t that bad.
I know he did all this because Prager U just now finally shared the video on YouTube:
Listen, I’m sure there are some teachers, parents, and students out there who genuinely enjoy the Prager U curriculum, and that 98% of them are homeschool moms. But hey, they exist. Probably.
That being said, Ryan would have better luck finding kitty litter in a school bathroom than a single public school student, teacher, or parent who loves Prager U’s curriculum. I doubt most have ever heard of it, and the ones who do have a negative connotation. You know, considering it’s been soundly rejected by Oklahoma school districts.

Anyway, I’m not writing about all this to remind you that—shocker—Ryan Walters is a liar who misleads and misrepresents the popularity of his warped initiatives and actions. I’m actually writing it to lead into the fact that Ryan was able to reunite with his old gay porn buddy!
After I finished watching Ryan’s video, I scrolled through the Prager U set list to see who else spoke at the conservative circle jerk. That’s when I noticed that Corey DeAngelis—Ryan’s school privatization buddy who once starred in gay porn videos—also spoke at the event:
In case you missed it, we were one of the first media outlets to report that DeAngelis—a school privatization evangelist who decries the woke takeover of public schools—starred in some gay porn films about a decade ago. Remember that one?
The story has some local relevance because DeAngelis had buddied up with Ryan and Kevin Stitt, where they did things like discuss how to put the Bible in public education, grift taxpayer dollars, and, oddly, install new showers in middle school boys’ PE locker rooms.
Okay, I’m joking about that last one. I hope.
After news got around that DeAngelis participated in gay porn videos, the guy went radio silent on all social media platforms. I guess after a week or two consulting with right-wing crisis PR experts, he then re-emerged on the Christian media circuit.
He explained that everything was a big misunderstanding and that he was lured into the gay porn industry with promises of appearing in traditional workout videos instead of jerk-off races and quit once he was asked to touch other men. A statement that sounds as believable as Oklahoma parents, students, and teachers being in love with Prager U.
Via Them:
“There are images and videos circulating of me from my college days about a decade ago that I’m not proud of. They’re embarrassing,” DeAngelis said, affirming that he appeared in the adult videos and photos described in media reports. He went on to claim he was the target of “a cancellation attempt from the Left in particular, and my political opponents are trying to accuse me of hypocrisy.”
DeAngelis further described his experience doing porn as “deceptive,” claiming he was “lured” in with promises he would be performing in fitness videos rather than adult films. He quit when he was asked to touch other men, DeAngelis added, going on to insinuate that minors are being given porn in public schools.
To be clear, I don’t think that starring in gay porn, straight porn, or even softcore porn should prevent you from pursuing a career in public education policy. The only place where I draw the line is animal porn, which I guess means I – unlike Ryan Walters – never support Hafwin for Oklahoma State School Superintendent.
Anyway, now that DeAngelis is back in the conservative Christian nationalist good graces, it will be interesting to see if Ryan Walters, OCPA, or God’s Misfits brings him out to lie alongside Ryan about how much Oklahomans love Prager U.
Maybe they’ll hit the road together for a taxpayer-funded “School Choice” revival tour, spreading the good word about voucher scams, right-wing indoctrination, and how totally not-hypocritical it is for a guy with a porno past to be moralizing about public education.
In the meantime, I assume Ryan will keep doing what he does best—shamelessly grifting, lying, and embarrassing Oklahoma on a national stage. And as long as he keeps at it, we’ll be here to document every cringe-inducing moment.
