Paul Folger was haunted by memories of atomic wedgies…

atomic wedgie

There are bad ways to go and then there are bad ways to go. This awful, make-you-cringe story about a man who allegedly murdered his stepfather by giving him an atomic wedgie falls in the italics bad category.

Via NewsOK.com:

Law officers have arrested a McLoud man in the death of another man who was suffocated with his own underwear and struck in the head.

Brad Davis, 33, was jailed Tuesday night, Pottawatomie County Sheriff Mike Booth told a local TV reporter. Davis reportedly told investigators he gave his stepfather, Denver Lee St. Clair, 58, an “atomic wedgie.”

St. Clair died on the evening of Dec. 21, said Amy Elliott, Oklahoma state medical examiner's spokeswoman. The cause of death has been determined to be from blunt force trauma to the head and asphyxiation. The death has been ruled a homicide, Elliott said Wednesday.

Davis has been booked at the Pottawatomie County jail on a homicide complaint, a jailer confirmed.

Pottawatomie County court records available on the Oklahoma Supreme Court Network website show St. Clair was under a permanent protective order filed in 2008 by Tressia St. Clair. Records show she filed for a divorce against him in 2010 but the divorce was dismissed. Denver St. Clair then filed for a divorce against her last year.

First of all, this is why I refuse to wear underwear. Second, was it boxers or briefs? Not that it matters or anything. I'm just asking the question that we're all probably thinking. Nothing wrong with that, right?

Anyway, the NewsOK.com story misses some important details. According to a Channel 5 report that you must watch for the absurdity of it all, Davis and St. Claire got in a fight after St. Claire said something questionable about his wife (Davis' mom). Davis, an ex-marine, knocked out St. Claire. Davis then proceeded to give his stepfather an atomic wedgie, and in the process, suffocate him. Once again, it's an italics bad way to go.

The story was originally reported last night by KOCO Channel 5. It put the news station in the awkward position of trying to promote a WTF story about murder with class and dignity:

Schambach and Katy Blakely took the "strange and sad" approach:

Erielle Reshef was "intrigued," which means she's either into BDSM or owns every Time Life book about serial killers.

Death by wedgie also brought back some traumatic memories of middle school to KOCO anchor Paul Folger. The man of many faces was visibly shaken by the report:

Paul folger

Seriously, he looked like he was about to collapse on camera. That sucks, but at least he'll have something to talk about in therapy. Let's just hope it doesn't involve immersion therapy. I'm sure Carson Cunningham would like that, but it would be awful for Paul.
