Former Edmond Mayor Successfully Trolls Markwayne Mullin…

12:27 PM EDT on September 29, 2026

We’d like to give a big TLO “Happy Birthday” to former Edmond Mayor Randel Shadid!

The now 79-year-old former mayor is in the news today after successfully trolling Trump super-lemming Marcuswayne Mullin at an Edmond Chamber of Commerce event held the same day Mullin was in town celebrating the opening of a new U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services field office.

Apparently, Markwayne was taking questions from the audience when Shadid decided that, instead of tossing him the usual softball, pro-Trump, Chamber-approved question, he used the DHS secretary’s own Christian beliefs against him.

Via The Oklahoman:

U.S. Homeland Security Sec. Markwayne Mullin defended his agency's immigration enforcement tactics in a shouting match that escalated at an Edmond event after a former mayor questioned whether the actions of ICE aligned with the teachings of Jesus.

The fiery exchange came after Mullin delivered a speech at an Edmond Chamber of Commerce meeting on Monday, Sept. 28, during a question-and-answer period with audience members.

"I still have a hard time figuring out how a Christian who reads the Bible like I do and listens to Jesus and his teachings can abuse the number of people that your agency abuses," Randel Shadid told Mullin.

The Republican official interrupted Shadid, saying: "You're not going to throw out Christian scripture to me and sit there and say that Jesus didn't say we should obey the nation's laws."

Yep, that’s right. The guy who works for President Donald Trump – a convicted felon who has spent the better part of the last decade shitting on our country's laws – apparently wants to lecture everyone else about how Jesus demands strict obedience to the law.

Say what you want about Marcuswayne, but the guy really is an extraordinary hypocrite.

The Oklahoman shared the audio from the event, and although “shouting match” may be a little sensationalized, you could definitely tell Markwayne was pretty salty about having someone question his Christian bona fides.

Then again, Markwayne has about the same temperament and composure as Regular Jim Traber. It doesn’t take a whole lot to set him off – something Shadid himself noted afterward to The Oklahoman.

"Markwayne is nothing but a bully," Shadid said. "I practiced law for 50-plus years. I know how to pull someone's chain and with him, it's so easy you don't even have to think about it."

Noting that Monday was his 79th birthday, Shadid said agitating Mullin made his day. He said he hopes the exchange between himself and Mullin encourages people to vote.

"I hope they at least think about who they're voting for and what that person stands for, because Mullin stands for pretty much everything I'm opposed to," Shadid said.

Friendly reminder – Markwayne doesn’t just stand for everything most sane, compassionate people are opposed to. He also squats.

As I mentioned, you can listen to the entire audio over at The Oklahoman. You can also learn more about the ICE facility by watching this report below:
