Under the best circumstances, the state fair is a bit of a crapshoot. You may have a great time, but you’ll likely get a sunburn, or you’ll be waterlogged from rain. The food will be a delight, but you’ll overhear a conversation from a stranger you wish you could permanently unhear.
The fair is many things to many people, and some would say it’s not worth it to bring a little kid.

The 2026 State Fair Basics
The great state fair of Oklahoma runs from Thursday, September 17 until Sunday, September 27. The fair opens every day at 10 AM, with the carnival opening at 11 AM on Monday, Saturdays, and Sundays, or 1 PM on Tuesdays through Fridays. I won’t bother telling you what time it all closes. If you have a toddler, you know good and well you’ll be at home, bathed, and in bed before any of that happens.
