A few weeks ago, I was supposed to finally go to the long-admired, extremely vaunted, and utterly unique FRIDA Southwest restaurant, located at 500 Paseo, in the Paseo District. I have waited for so very long for FRIDA, come Hell, high water, or a many-layered combination of the two.
But, true to form, God laughs at our steadfast plans, as I had to have emergency back surgery a couple weeks ago, necessitating serious time to truly recuperate. More about that later in the week...
Either way, throughout my countless surgeries and hospitalizations over the years I have learned to be a fast healer and, with my birthday arriving this week, I was able to sit down, feel the ambience, and truly enjoy the culinary world FRIDA has to offer, finally.
Though I am still not too steady on my feet, we arrived at FRIDA as the sun was setting in the sky, creating a southwest red pastiche that really made our dinner thematically brilliant.
