The weather is still ridiculous, but football season waits for no man. While we can’t enjoy the idea of putting on our favorite NCAA-licensed hoodies just yet, we can at least make some delightful game day fried pickles to commemorate the start of college football season in Oklahoma.
Before we begin, I would like to relay an anecdote – a cautionary tale, if you will.
I used to know a woman who talked up her game-day queso recipe. She said it was the best, and acted like our lives would all be changed when we finally had it.
Well, game day rolled around, and that woman literally mixed Rotel and Velveeta in a crockpot, as if she were the only person to ever do that before. When we showed her that was LITERALLY THE RECIPE PRINTED ON THE VELVEETA BOX, she got really quiet. We realized later she had left the watch party.
So, with that in mind, please know that I will simply present this fried pickle recipe to you. I think it’s pretty great, but I also acknowledge it won’t change your life. And, while I came up with this recipe in my own head, I fully acknowledge I may not be the first person to combine ingredients this way.
