TLO launches new $500 subscription for Gentner Drummond…

11:41 AM EDT on July 23, 2026

We have great news for local attorneys general who like to throw their money around!

Earlier this week, fresh off an Oklahoma Watch report highlighting his repeated absences from a state pension board, Mike Mazzei’s campaign released a Facebook post criticizing Gentner Drummond for donating $500 to the nonprofit newsroom back in 2024.

Check this out:

That’s pretty funny. Who knew $500 was all it took to purchase favorable coverage, negative stories about your political opponents and complete control of the liberal media?

Apparently, we’ve been charging way too little!

Mazzei’s Facebook post eventually caught the attention of something called Oklahoma Politics Today

Instead of blaming his wife, Drummond responded to Mazzei’s attack by doubling down and giving Oklahoma Watch another donation:

Mazzei campaign questions Oklahoma Watch’s independence; Drummond responds with another $500 donation

Attorney general makes a second contribution after Mazzei campaign criticizes his 2024 donation to the nonprofit newsroom.

OKLAHOMA CITY – The campaign of Republican gubernatorial candidate Mike Mazzei is questioning the editorial independence of nonprofit news organization Oklahoma Watch after Attorney General Gentner Drummond made a $500 donation to the organization in 2024.

Drummond responded Tuesday by making another $500 contribution to Oklahoma Watch.

“If supporting independent journalism is now considered controversial, here’s today’s receipt,” Drummond said in a message to Oklahoma Politics Today. His campaign provided a screenshot confirming the contribution was made Tuesday.

Yep, that’s right. He gave them another $500! That’s pretty badass, and it raises a couple of important questions:

  1. What negative Mike Mazzei story is liberal Oklahoma Watch going to publish next?
  2. How do we get in on some of that action?

I have no clue about the answer to the first question, but I do have a plan for getting our hands on some fresh subscriber scrilla!

Today, I’m proud to announce that TLO has created a brand-new subscription tier tailored exclusively for Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond.

Dubbed the Gentner One, it costs $500 a year and includes 24/7 site access, commenting privileges and – best of all – the satisfaction of knowing you’re supporting an independent local media outlet with a short yet distinguished history of criticizing Mike Mazzei.

Check this out:

Yep, that’s real. The plan is officially live on the site and ready for Gentner whenever he feels like supporting an even more independent, controversial and irresponsible local media outlet than Oklahoma Watch.

That being said, and to be super-duper clear, the $500 does not include favorable coverage, editorial control or any guarantee that we won’t make fun of Gentner the next time his wife releases a campaign video:

It does, however, include our sincere gratitude and the knowledge that his contribution will help fund additional Mike Mazzei ridicule well into the future. Well, unless Mazzei donates $500, too. Then we’ll be in a real ethical pickle.

Anyway, we’ll be standing by for the payment – and the inevitable five-alarm Mazzei Facebook post accusing us of being bought and paid for. If and when that happens, hopefully Gentner will respond with an additional purchase.

In the meantime, if you’d like to stick it to Mike Mazzei without spending $500, you can read Oklahoma Watch’s original report about his board absences here. Or, better yet, scroll down and enjoy our shameless piggyback coverage of the whole thing.

Stay with The Lost Ogle. We’ll keep you advised.
