I’d like to give a TLO “Attagirl!” to Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation attorney Shannon Desherow!
Last week, Desherow became the latest target of the right-wing Internet outrage circuit after Libs of TikTok shared this now-deleted video of her raging against ICE and expletively explaining why people shouldn’t have to comply with the masked secret police force’s demands.
The video contains a lot of bad words, so if you’re into that sort of thing, turn up your speakers.
Meet Shannon Desherow, Assistant General Counsel for the State of Oklahoma.

She went on an unhinged meltdown, appearing to threaten ICE and saying she will NOT comply.
"I'm gonna make it an ICE agent's problem. I don't have to f*cking comply with ICE... we have to make their… pic.twitter.com/96md6nV5Kx
Maybe it’s because I think any law-enforcement agency that rolls around in masks and snatches people off the street deserves a few bad words tossed its way, but I thought that was pretty badass!
Seriously, it’s refreshing to see someone inside Oklahoma government have the courage to speak out against authoritarian bullshit instead of quietly polishing their résumé and waiting for a promotion that – in Shannon’s case – will probably never come.
Naturally, the video / dog whistle caught the attention of Oklahoma politicians eager to prove their loyalty to the federal deportation machine.
Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond – the guy Libs of TikTok tagged in the original tweet – was quick to clarify that Desherow doesn’t work for his office:
This individual is not employed by the Attorney General's Office in any capacity, nor has she ever been previously.

The expectations for those in my office are clear and unchanging. Respect is non-negotiable and strong partnerships with our federal allies are critical to… https://t.co/FssENFaLbv
The following day, after it was revealed she actually worked for OSBI, Drummond issued another statement condemning Desherow and suggesting anyone in Oklahoma law enforcement who criticizes ICE should find another line of work:
The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation's Shannon Desherow does not speak for Oklahoma. Her comments attacking the credibility and mission of ICE do not reflect the values of Oklahomans or the views of the law enforcement professionals who work every day with our federal… https://t.co/qANUQbmSUt

Well, so much for law-enforcement officers being allowed to have personal opinions about… law enforcement! I forgot they’re all supposed to just blindly comply and follow orders. Otherwise they need to resign, or as free speech advocate T.W. Shannon would suggest, be fired:
I have confirmed that this ICE-hating radical leftist works for @osbi_ok not the @okla_ag and it is clear she should be fired immediately. No law enforcement agency should employ someone who refuses to cooperate with ICE. pic.twitter.com/OuAxJXem5w

Yep, that’s right. She should be fired immediately for expressing political views that offended the right-wing outrage mob.
So much for cancel culture being wrong, huh?
Cancel Culture is wrong! https://t.co/3kpfKhfnyt

Wow. Imagine that? T.W. Shannon being two-faced and hypocritical on a topic. He'll make a great Lt. Governor.
Anyway, as a guy who’s been on both sides of the internet outrage machine, I kind of know what Desherow is going through right now. It’s a bizarre, stressful and deeply annoying experience to watch a bunch of strangers who know nothing about you demand that your livelihood be taken away because they didn’t like something you said online.
The good news is that these mobs usually get distracted by a new target within 48 hours. The bad news is that Oklahoma politicians are apparently now competing to see who can help ruin her life before that happens.
We wish her the best of luck either A) riding this thing out and staying at OSBI – because God knows that agency could use an attorney willing to question law-enforcement overreach – or B) finding a new job that better reflects her principles and doesn’t require pretending masked federal agents are above criticism.
Stay with The Lost Ogle. We’ll keep you advised.
