We’ve officially reached the point of the Oklahoma gubernatorial race where you can’t distinguish satire from reality!
Okay, technically I think we reached that point with the first crazed banana slicer ad, but you catch my drift.
Over the weekend, Wendy Drummond – Gentner’s loyal, loving campaign spouse – channeled the lessons learned in her high school drama class and released an over-the-top, absolutely hysterical mercy-plea monologue where she took full responsibility for a 2020 campaign donation to Joe Biden.
Check out this "is this real life?" insanity:
Hi, this is Wendy.

For weeks, political opponents have been spreading a false attack about my husband.
The truth is simple:
Gentner Drummond never donated money to Joe Biden.
The mistake was mine. I corrected it. Not one penny ever went to Biden.
I wanted you to hear the… pic.twitter.com/duFVnR8Pl4
Wow. There’s a lot to unpack with the video.
The first is, to quote the Sassy Mama – Holy fuck! I feel sorry for that woman! I mean, just look at her face. Is she sick because she donated to Biden, or because she’s sacrificing her values, beliefs and political autonomy just to appease her husband’s ambition?
You see, Wendy kind of strikes me as a Nichols Hills Republican-lite woman. You know, one who votes Republicans to protect her money, but who is probably pro-choice, anti-Trump and the type who would admit in a magazine to being inspired by Michelle Obama’s fashion. Her pride has to be shot!

That’s from an Oklahoma Magazine pictorial that Wendy and Gentner did in 2016. I apologize to her in advance if this leads to her having to release another video!
Naturally, because we’re in the middle of a primary and someone just released an apology video, complete with sad music, to apologize for (gasp!) donating to a Democrat – the video quickly spread on X, where critics from both sides of the political aisle attacked:
This is legitimately hilarious - you can be in the Epstein files, throw boiling water on your wife (allegedly), run cover for a war nobody wanted, defend an insurrection, etc… but if your wife donated to Biden you’re a goner https://t.co/ezxCojSGBt

The problem with this lie the Drummonds keep spreading is that when you make a political donation, you have to type in the name of the person making the donation

for FEC reporting purposes.
It doesn’t just pull the name from a “joint credit card”.
So either he or she had to… https://t.co/7E8UO2Zbkv
This exemplifies the difference between the big four candidates (Drummond, Mazzei, McCall, and Keating) and the only regular Oklahoman in the race, @JakeMerrick4Gov.

This oozes arrogant, elitist, wealth and ultimately is just a confession of “I charged my Biden donation to… https://t.co/cq6xsHDmIS
Honestly, with X being overrun with bots, propagandists and AI slop, I’m surprised Gent’s campaign shared it on the platform. Instead of reassuring voters, it feels like he’s simply welcoming criticism and mockery.
On that note, I guess it will be interesting to see what, if any, effect this latest satire-reality line-blurrer has on the race.
Obviously, internal polling and data from the Drummond campaign must show this is an issue where he’s vulnerable. Otherwise, you don’t send your wife to the internet gallows to film a Hallmark Hall of Fame hostage video apologizing for an accidental Biden donation.
I guess the question is whether it soothes the MAGA voters it’s intended to reach, or simply draws more attention to the exact weakness his opponents are trying to exploit.
Stay with The Lost Ogle. We’ll keep you advised.
