We have an update to the big Sassy Mama firing for those who give a fuck.
Following a monthlong social media absence, Caryn “Sassy Mama” Ross – the News 9 kitchen and lifestyle personality who was let go after she let an F-bomb slip into a pre-recorded cooking segment – finally addressed the situation on Instagram.
For the most part, she acknowledged and made light of the gaffe, blamed the News 9 editors for letting it slip through the cracks, and then hinted at her next steps, which may include being a seashell collector.

That’s cool. It’s nice to see Caryn has a good sense of humor and that she’s sassy and able to make light of the situation. I don’t have a big problem with foul language, and I think it’s weak that she was fired over it.
Then again, I also think it’s weak that Caryn tried to deflect blame and throw her News 9 editors under the bus! That’s like a QB blaming his wide receiver for an interception. Seriously, you wanna know the easiest way to never get fired for accidentally saying the F-bomb in your pre-recorded cooking segment? Don’t send them audio of you saying the F-bomb!
Anyway, I guess it will be interesting to see what Caryn does next.
In a way, I think this F-bomb controversy could be a blessing in disguise. Thanks to AI, streaming, social media, and the clip economy, local news as we know it is being suffocated out of existence, so it’s probably not the worst thing in the world for her to be forced out and give the full-time influencer biz a go. She already has a built-in following and the “relatable wine aunt who accidentally cusses while making queso” energy that the internet eats up.
Hell, maybe she should reach out to Jennifer Welch and start an I’ve Had It Cookin’ show. She won’t get fired for saying “fuck” over there.
