OKGOP Chair endorses Jackson Lahmeyer for Congress…

The race to replace Kevin Hern as congressman has taken a Christian Nationalist turn.

Last week, Jackson Lahmeyer – the “Pastors for Trump” firebrand who got Bible-thumped by James Lankford in the 2022 Senate primary – announced he scored the endorsement of OK GOP Chair Charity Linch for Tulsa’s open CD-1 congressional district.

Check this out:

Really? He’s a staunch supporter of freedom? That’s the best pitch she could make to Trump? If she really wanted to score the president’s endorsement, she should have reminded Trump that Lahmeyer once married – and later divorced – a teenage bride. Trump would have loved that!

After Jackson announced Linch's endorsement, she responded with her own tweet:

Yep, we only send Patriots to DC?

If that’s the case, shouldn’t she be endorsing someone who served in the military, or at least graduated from PC West?

As KOSU reported, Linch’s decision to endorse a candidate – much less a Christian Nationalist grifter who runs around with Michael Flynn and the MyPillow guy – upset many in the old guard of the Oklahoma GOP.

In fact, four former chairs of the Republican Party fired off a public letter in protest:

Yep, that’s right – Linch’s move is so unprecedented that she even lost the confidence of Pam Pollard, the former party chair who once longed for the good old days when public schools didn’t exist and women stayed home to teach kids from the Bible.

That’s good stuff. I’m a sucker for a good, campy horror movie, so I kind of enjoy watching the spawns of the MAGA monster claw their way through the old GOP, tossing long-held norms into the wood chipper just to get their way. Sure, it’s a little messy and gory and probably bad for our country, but who cares—pass me the popcorn and let’s eat away our feelings.

Anyway, it will be interesting to see if Linch’s endorsement even matters. I doubt 99% of Republicans even know who she is, but if it’s something Lahmeyer can use in postcards, ads, church sermons, etc., it could benefit him.

I guess the real question is if it – and the backlash-inducing letter she wrote – can somehow sway Trump to get involved in the race and support Lahmeyer. Probably not – that would require money – but if it does, then it could be the pivotal thing that moves this race and puts CD-1 under further Christian Nationalist control.
