For a guy who writes about bottom-barrel politics for a living, I do a pretty good job maintaining my dignity and avoiding the Trump clickbait circuit.
This is for two reasons:
A) Oklahoma already provides plenty of good outrage content for me to cover…
B) Donald Trump and I are friends…
Despite that – and with The Donald’s permission – every now and then I feel obligated to put together a headline that will get a reaction on Facebook, spark a few comment-section meltdowns, and maybe send some cheerful Trump-hate clicks and revenue our way.
That’s why I thought I’d follow the Oklahoma Gaslight’s example and regurgitate this Oklahoman article about Trump’s declining popularity in his “cherished” Oklahoma:
New poll shows Oklahomans split, declining on Trump approval
President Donald Trump's favorability has been trending downward since the start of the year, and according to a new study, Oklahoma is on the edge of not favoring the Republican president.
Currently, Trump's approval rating is among the lowest the survey has recorded for Oklahoma as it teases the line of 50% approval…
According to data from Civiqs, at this time last year, two Oklahomans approved of Trump for every one naysayer, as his approval rating sat at 61%, with 35% disapproving of the Republican.
Today, Trump now sits at a 54% approval rating among Civiqs poll takers in Oklahoma.
Yep, that’s right. After a year of chaos, turmoil, and everything else that makes him awful for the country, 54% of Oklahomans still brainlessly approve of Donald Trump.
Well, at least that’s how I negatively interpreted it.
As I mentioned, the Oklahoman article was picked up by some Facebook page called the Oklahoma Gaslight. Even though support and approval aren’t exactly the same thing, they spun the story into some feel-good anti-Trump AI slop about the thousands of Oklahomans who have supposedly “dropped their support.”
Fun fact – whoever runs the Oklahoma Gaslight page probably made about $300 or so on that AI slop. Meanwhile, The Oklahoman didn’t even share their original article on social media! And we wonder why newspapers are dead or dying.
Although I do think it’s neat that some Trump supporters have woken up, smelled the coffee, and maybe even read the Epstein files, I still can’t get over the fact that 54% of our state’s population approves of this guy. Outside of our neighbors, friends, and family members, who are these people?! It’d be like finding out 54% of Oklahomans prefer Facebook AI slop.
Anyway, what’s even more shocking about the poll is that 50% of women approve of the job he’s doing:
From there, many of the demographics have a close split on how they feel about the president. For example, college graduates who took the Civiqs survey were split 49-46%, with more leaning toward approval.
Similarly, female poll takers saw a 50-46% split on Trump's approval.
I can see how rich white racist men who only care about money can approve of Trump, but I’ve never understood how women can support him. You’d think they’d be against a pussy-grabber from the Epstein files bombing children in a faraway country, but then again, that whole brainless thing can be a hard disability to overcome.
