Back when I was regularly hosting Hoot Trivia events, one of my favorite OKC-themed questions to ask bar patrons was, “Which former child star was arrested on drug possession charges in OKC in 2004?”
It’s one of several OKC-themed child star questions in our rotation, alongside classics like “Which other Home Alone actor was arrested in Bricktown in 2021?” and “Which Diff’rent Strokes actress died of an overdose in an RV in Moore, Oklahoma?”
Anyway, as any informed OKC aficionado can tell you, the answer to that first question is Macaulay Culkin.

Or at least it was.
He recently filed to have the drug charges removed from his record, which I guess means the arrest never technically happened.
Via The Oklahoman:
Actor Macaulay Culkin has requested that the state of Oklahoma expunge his arrest record stemming from an arrest 22 years ago…
During court proceedings, Culkin pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges of possession of marijuana and Xanax and received a one-year deferred sentence, according to court records.
The Oklahoma City-based attorney who filed the document, Scott M. Anderson, wrote in the petition that the charges were dismissed after completion of the deferred judgment and that Culkin has never been convicted of a felony, thus entitling him to expungement.
I have a couple of questions about this…
First – why now? Is Macaulay Culkin looking for a new job? Trying to qualify for a concealed carry permit? Or did he just wake up one morning, look in the mirror, and think, “You know what would really complete my 30-year redemption arc? Clearing that random Oklahoma drug charge.”
Second – and I ran into this a bit when covering Kelly Lynn’s expunged drug charge – if the arrest is expunged, does it technically still exist? Like, do we need to update the trivia card to, “Which former child star was once arrested in OKC in 2004?” or do we rewrite it to, “Which former child star had his 2004 OKC drug arrest expunged in 2026?”
These are the difficult constitutional and philosophical questions trivia hosts are forced to confront in modern America!
Anyway, while I sort that out, I’d like to wish Macaulay the best of luck with the expungement. From here on out, here's hoping most questions about him will simply focus on his filmography and cameo appearance in relatively obscure 1990s movie videos:
