With his polling and favorability numbers continuing to plummet, it will be interesting to see how Republicans in purplish districts handle Donald Trump this upcoming election season.
For example, will Stephanie Bice – the 5th Congressional District representative who’s been making a slow dance to the middle – distance herself from the aspiring dictator, or will she continue to bend the knee, praise his excellency, and pretend the emperor is wearing clothes?
Well, I think we know the answer.
Last week, Bice released an op-ed celebrating Trump’s return to the Oval Office and – while ignoring reality – praised everything he’s allegedly accomplished.
The whole thing was pretty terrible and made me gag harder than one of Stephanie’s home-brewed IPAs. Here’s the intro:
Last week marked one year of the Trump Administration, and despite inheriting numerous challenges from the previous administration, President Trump has enacted an incredible turnaround for the country. His focus, as it was on the campaign trail, has been delivering for the American people and putting America first.
Seriously, the dude is sending secret police into American cities with the sole purpose of causing chaos and disorder, and you’re saying he’s putting the American people first? Tell that to the families of Renée Nicole Good and Alex Jeffrey Pretti.
If you think that’s bad, you should read the whole thing. Well, actually, don’t – it’s a waste of time – but she totally ignored all the dysfunction Trump’s caused and instead pretended that he’s done great things:
The Administration has also made meaningful progress in reducing inflation and restoring economic stability. Under the Biden Administration, reckless spending drove inflation to a 40-year high, placing significant strain on families. Under President Trump, inflation has fallen from 9% to 2.7%. Mortgage rates, which reached a 23-year high of 7.8% in 2024 and made homeownership increasingly unattainable for families, are also coming down.
While these accomplishments alone mark a productive first year, President Trump and Republicans have also cracked down on waste, fraud, and abuse while taking steps to keep our communities safer. With lower costs, higher pay, and safer communities, President Trump’s America First agenda is delivering real results for families across Oklahoma and the country.
Jesus Christ. I haven’t seen Stephanie Bice kiss ass like that since she met the brewer of Prairie Artisan Ales! Trump cracked down on waste, fraud, and abuse? The guy's whole dogma is waste, fraud and abuse. The only people he's delivering results for are the felons he's pardoned!
Obviously, by ignoring Trump's faults and highlighting his, uhm, accomplishments, it appears Stephanie is continuing to play the middle here. I guess that's cool if you're a boring rank and file member of congress who has the zest and zeal of a plain bagel with low-fat cream cheese, but I’d like to see her pick sides and either…
A) Go full MAGA and own it. Her district was recently gerrymandered to be safer for Republicans anyway, so why keep playing this pathetic middle game? If you’re going to kiss Trump’s ass, then kiss it proudly. Make excuses for the secret police, name-drop the tariffs, and praise the foreign invasions! Basically, go full throttle like Marcuwayne!
B) Grow a spine and call him out. Instead of playing the dog in the “This Is Fine” meme, actually represent the people in your district who aren’t braindead morons and see through Trump’s BS, and the real-life threat he is to our country.
I’m not saying you have to run around with the Squad, but maybe acknowledge that rounding people up with unmarked vans is bad, or that trade wars are making things cost more?
We know there’s some at least some decency good in you!
A father and mother were murdered at the hands of their troubled son. We should be lifting the family up in prayer, not making this about politics.
