Here’s something I never thought I’d write for The Lost Ogle – Kevin Stitt showed some political courage!
Well, at least that’s kind of how it looks. Knowing him, it could just be political stupidity.
Over the weekend, Stitt appeared on CNN to share his views on various issues facing governors across the country, like – you know – the threat of the federal government unleashing a modern-day Gestapo in your state based on the political whims of an angry, senile, 80-year-old bigot.
When asked directly about the situation in Minneapolis, instead of downplaying the murders he saw on video, blaming the victims, and blindly supporting President Trump like most cable news conservatives do, he took a slightly different stance and actually criticized the President’s immigration strategy.
Check this out.
Republican Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt:

Americans don’t like what they’re seeing in Minnesota. Trump is getting bad advice right now... we need to know, what is the endgame? And I don't think it's to deport every single non-U.S. citizen.

I have to admit, Stitt’s criticism of Trump is a tad surprising!
Kevin Stitt has signed bills that allowed cops to profile people based on race, happily used state and local resources to assist ICE raids, and has even cosplayed as a border patrol agent along the Rio Grande. With a résumé like that, you’d think Stitt would be all for what Trump is doing!
But, alas, Stitt is seemingly doing the morally correct thing here. What gives?
I guess one logical conclusion is that Stitt, after seeing that even white people can get shot by ICE for any reason, has finally grown a spine and is reconsidering Trump’s Third Reich–style plan to occupy American cities. If so, good for him. Progress is progress, and I’ll take it.
Then again, that may be giving Stitt and his humanity too much credit. This could be a calculated political play.
Stitt has national party ticket aspirations, and – perhaps seeing how public polling numbers outside the right-wing fringe are overwhelmingly against Trump’s ICE regime – maybe he’s simply taking a calculated gamble, trying to reach the conservative mainstream middle and position himself as a national voice of reason in chaotic times.
Although that’s a nice thought, that would assume there is even a conservative middle to reach anymore. As the social media reactions to Stitt’s comments seem to prove, the fringe right-wing lunatics are out and ready to pounce.
Who needs Democrats when cowardly, sissified Republicans like Stitt are happy to do their work for them? What an embarrassment. https://t.co/OhQHKX4J5L

The RINOs are starting to show themselves. Just as they always do.

Even the non-violent illegal aliens affect the census numbers & give the Democrats more political power.

It's why they mass imported them in the first place.
Every single one of them has gotta go back.
Kevin Stitt is a RINO.
Basically a Democrat in disguise. pic.twitter.com/6k323TaT9L
Listen, I’ve covered Stitt for over eight years and have called him many names – RINO isn’t one of them. Maybe Rhino-brained, but definitely not RINO.
Anyway, I don’t think we’ll ever really know the real reason Stitt dared criticize Trump over the weekend, but I’d like to give him props for – at least in this one fleeting situation – showing a little bit of political courage and saying what is right instead of repeating the lies that all the other bootlicking cable-news conservatives are paid, forced, or programmed to recite.
Sure, he was already trying to save face and defend the administration’s policy only 12 hours later, but at least for one fleeting moment, we got to live in a world where Kevin Stitt accidentally did something that resembled political courage… or stupidity.
I applaud @POTUS for sending Tom Homan to put fresh eyes on the ground in Minnesota. Americans are for a secure border and law and order, but they want a clear end game for operations in their states. President Trump is a dealmaker, and I am hopeful this will come to a reasonable…
