Gentner “Beef Burger” Drummond Loses Key Endorsement…

Gentner Drummond continues to face political fallout for placing the legal rights and interests of the Oklahoma people over the pocketbooks of greedy, out-of-state poultry producers!

Last week, the Oklahoma Cattlemen's Association announced that our “Beef Burger” nickname for Gentner Drummond was in serious peril after they pulled their endorsement of his gubernatorial bid.

They didn’t do this because he was spotted eating an Impossible Burger in the Paseo, which would have made it justifiable, but because he’s been busy shaking down all the poultry companies that have polluted the Illinois River watershed for decades.

The Oklahoma Cattlemen’s Association (OCA) today announced that it has formally rescinded and voided its January 2025 political endorsement of Attorney General Gentner Drummond for Governor of the State of Oklahoma.

OCA is a membership-driven organization committed to representing the collective will and best interests of Oklahoma cattle producers. OCA has significant concerns regarding subsequent actions taken by the Office of the Attorney General, including watershed-based regulatory and litigation strategies that directly impact cattle operations across Oklahoma. The Association believes these actions are contrary to the economic interests, operational viability, and private property rights of Oklahoma’s beef producers.

In accordance with action taken by its governing body, OCA will withdraw all public references to the January 2025 endorsement from its official communications and has notified Attorney General Drummond that the endorsement has been rescinded.

Yep, that’s right. Gentner Drummond – a politically connected, generational cattle rancher with a family name that carries a lot of weight, a lot of power, and a lot of money in the beef and cattle industry – lost the endorsement of the Oklahoma Cattlemen’s Association… because he enforced a lawsuit judgment that ruled against chicken farmers?

Call me old-fashioned and conservative here, but you’d think these salt-of-the-earth cattlemen would stay loyal and true to their beef-burger brethren and support him as he upheld justice and the law!

Instead, they caved to a bunch of angry poultry farmers who actively encourage people to eat less beef!

What a bunch of chickens!

Even though the association also announced it is done with political endorsements for now and won’t be backing any candidate in the Republican primary, it didn’t stop Gentner’s opponents from seizing on the news.

For example, Charles McCall – who as recently endorsed by the Oklahoma Banana Producers Co-op – said the Cattlemen's endorsement take back was due to Gentner’s "failed leadership:"

Listen, I know I’m not a crazy politician who will cut fruit to win an election, but I’d argue real leadership isn’t about doing what’s popular, profitable or convenient. It’s actually about doing what’s right.

For example, real life leadership would be facing down political pressure from well-organized, well-funded special interests and holding bad actors accountable for their actions. You know, kind of like what Gentner is doing in his showdown with the poultry farming industrial complex,

On the other hand, failed leadership is the exact opposite. It's all about taking the easy way out, bowing down to power, and selling out the people in return for cheap political points.

You know… kind of like what McCall is proposing we do for the poultry industry.

Anyway, Gentner didn’t directly acknowledge losing the endorsement, but he did appear to respond in the most Oklahoma-politician way possible – by posting a video of himself feeding cattle in the snow while wearing a suspiciously crisp, camera-ready chore jacket that looks like it’s never been within 50 feet of an actual chore.

Quick pro tip to Beef Burger’s campaign team , the next time you stage one of those photo opps, can you make sure Gentner’s not wearing a jacket pulled straight from the rack at Langston’s? At least run it through a couple of laundry cycles so it looks broken in. Otherwise, we may have to follow the lead of the Cattlemen's Association and rescind his nickname.
