Weekend Radar: What to Do in OKC This Weekend

I was most excited to write about GZA’s show this weekend with Phunky Nomads celebrating the 30th anniversary of Liquid Swords, but naturally it was cancelled.

Even so, Oklahoma City’s glass is more than half full this weekend!

We have a funny New Yorker whose show is not cancelled, opening weekend of a loving FAM exhibit, campy fun, brunch games, and a crazy thing I can’t stop laughing about.

Here’s your Weekend Radar.

Jerry Seinfeld
Fri., Jan. 16 · 7:00 p.m. · Civic Center Music Hall

If you’re curious what deadpan observations Jerry might have about living through the collapse of America, come see his new stand-up set! Expect new material alongside the tightly structured stuff he’s known for. Tickets are available at publication time.

National Pigeon Association Grand Nationals
Fri.–Sun., Jan. 15–18 · Times vary · OKC Fairgrounds

Even extreme bird lovers think of pigeons as flying rats, but apparently there are people who intentionally breed them to be beautiful – and all of them are in OKC right now!

Thanks to a tip from a fellow weirdo, we know this is a not-joke national competition where pigeons are judged kindly for once: plumage, posture, symmetry, bloodlines. Like Westminster Dog Show meets Weird Science but way more shitty? Do the judges wear rain-capes or carry umbrellas? I have questions and media credentials, look out!

Cradleboards Crafted with Love (Opening Weekend)
Sat., Jan. 17 · Museum hours · First Americans Museum

This one is sweet, wholesome, and free fun for the whole family – or just for you. FAM’s Cradleboards Crafted with Love explores the cultural practice of cradleboard making across multiple tribal nations. An intimate exhibition, it celebrates traditional techniques, materials, and the role cradleboards played in family and community life.

Dolly Day
Sat., Jan. 17 · Noon–5 p.m. · Truck Yard OKC

The cult of Dolly is calling! If you need a reason to get silly in the sunshine on Saturday, meander over. Dolly Day at Truck Yard in Bricktown is an over-the-top Dolly Parton-themed celebration featuring live music, drinks, food trucks, and costume contests.

I’m not fun or fan enough to costume up, but this feels like a low-stakes rebellion against seriousness, and I’m here for it. Free, but you have to buy your own buzz.

Singo Sunday Brunch
Sun., Jan. 18 · 12:30 p.m. · Bar Cicchetti

If you haven’t visited chef Jonathon Stranger’s latest creation or had the boozy pleasure of a game of Singo, fix both this weekend. At this cozy spot in Deep Deuce, the only thing serious about Sunday is the brunch menu.

Expect beautiful plates, cocktails, and Singo… a music-based, bingo-style game with prizes. It's a free, casual, group-play format, you barely need to be paying attention to win, and it’s so fun! My tweenager loves Singo, so I’m calling it family-friendly.
