Two Familiar Faces Leave KOCO Channel 5…

I have some sad news for those of you who get emotionally connected to the pretty faces who read the teleprompter to you in the morning, afternoon, or evening.

Over the weekend, KOCO anchor Meghan Mosley shared a Facebook post bidding a fond farewell to a pair of her now former coworkers – field reporter Alyse Jones and weekend weatherlady Sabrina Bates.

Check this out:

That’s a shame. I guess.

Like most people, about the only time I watch TV news anymore is when I forget to change the channel following a network sporting event, so I’m not too familiar with their work, but both were smart, pretty, and tenured enough to leave a splash in the market, so we might as well let the curious know where they are going to shine, right?

For Sabrina, her future endeavor means being the new weatherperson for WLWT News 5 Cincinnati. Here’s her clichéd news starlet departure note:

Last week, I gave Shelby Love an A+ for the brief goodbye she left for KOKH viewers. Granted, she was only moving down a channel dial or two and not really leaving the market, so being short about it was easy, but she still nailed it like an evening gown competition.

Unfortunately, I’m only giving Sabrina’s farewell note a B+.

That may seem generous – it was too long and contained way too many of the “bittersweet,” “next chapter,” and “my heart will always be here” departure tropes – but what can I say, I really like the Outsiders Greaser outfit she wore to the KOCO going away party!

Yes, I know those things are not related, but I grade on a weird curve!

Here’s what Alyse had to say about her farewell:

Without a doubt, that’s an A-.

Sure, she dropped in a “bittersweet,” “blessed,” and “grateful” – a trio of random words you’ll likely see on a new Hobby Lobby wall ornament – but it’s only three paragraphs and gets to the point.

Plus, I like the Miss Blue’s Clues dress she’s wearing. The only thing she's missing is a handy dandy notebook!

If you’re sad Alyse is gone, don’t get too far down in the dumps.

Although she’s done with the long hours, low pay, and unfulfilling fame of TV news (for now), she’s going the Storme Jones path and entering Cleveland County government.

Yep, that’s right. Next time there's a scandal, crisis, or embarrassing misuse of taxpayer funds in Cleveland County government, the trusted news reporter... errrr... Alyse Jones will be there to help gloss it all away for you.

Well, until she does what Storme does and finds a job working for a member of our congressional delegation.

Anyway, we’d officially like to wish both Alyse and Sabrina the best of luck in their new endeavors. If they ever come back to the OKC media market and leave again, we’ll be happy to cover it.

Stay with The Lost Ogle. We’ll keep you advised.
