Local Pastor Arrested After Wife Receives Boutique Butt-Touch…

In case you missed it, Derrick Scobey – a notable local pastor who served on the cursed Oklahoma County Jail Trust and ran for County Clerk in 2022 – was arrested in Edmond over the weekend on trespassing charges after an incident at White House Black Market.

According to reports on Channels 4, 5, and 9, Scobey was mad that a store employee touched his wife’s butt, and that the ever-oppressive Edmond Police wouldn’t do anything about it.

Via KOCO Channel 5:

Pastor Derrick Scobey was released from jail after being arrested by Edmond police for trespassing at a local clothing store following allegations that a store manager inappropriately touched his wife.

After she called Scobey, he said he showed up at the store and refused to leave unless he was arrested.

Scobey said, “He proceeded to take his open hand, palmed and rubbed my wife's butt. So immediately following that, she moved forward away from him, and he still came up behind her and started touching her shoulders, trying to fix her blouse or whatever that is.”

The store employee was not arrested, and when contacted, they declined to comment.

When you read the story in context, you kind of want to give an attaboy to Scobey for defending his wife’s honor. It’s good to know some men who are better than me out there still have chivalry, and will stand up for their woman.

However...

Once you look deeper, you learn the one important context clue that the news channels seemed to leave out – the alleged toucher, whom the pastor refers to as “he,” is very obviously a stripe on some part of the LGBTQ+ rainbow.

We inadvertently learned this tidbit on KFOR:

Listen. I’m not a touchy-feely person, and I think that regardless of your gender, sexuality, or occupation, you should always ask for consent before grabbing a stranger's ass in public, but after seeing the video of the grabber and hearing them speak, doesn’t it feel like the Scobeys are overreacting a tad?

Some – unconfirmed, but come on, it's obvious – gay or trans retail employee helping your wife touched her behind. Big deal. Instead of getting all salty, the Scobeys should be acting Christ-like and turning the other butt cheek!

Sorry. Couldn’t resist.

Anyway, even though Scobey is usually an advocate for the little guy and the underrepresented, he’s acting exactly how we’d expect most Oklahoma church pastors to act if their wife were touched by a …. gasp…  gay or trans person.

In fact, he’s calling for the individual to be charged with assault!

“I don’t believe that any police officer should be able to let a person go who committed a felony crime while we are standing there,” said Scobey. “Now, if it comes from a credible citizen, then the officer should arrest. I guess we’re not credible citizens.”

I’ll admit that I’m not in any way a credible citizen, and I have no doubt Ms. Scobey didn’t like being touched and that the situation made her uncomfortable – I wouldn’t be a fan either – but come on, man, chill out a tad.

If we started charging every gay retail fashion employee with felony assault when they inappropriately touch someone, these places would run out of workers, and then the women we love won't have places to shop! That's not good for anyone!

Anyway, I guess it will be interesting to see if anything of consequence happens here. I think Scobey deserves a trespassing charge as much as the sales associate deserves a felony, so let's hope cooler heads prevail.
