Oklahoma Fails Again…

Oklahoma remains a Top 10 state in letting rapists off the hook.

As you may have noticed, the national online outrage machine has latched on to an infuriating case out of Stillwater involving known rapist Jesse Butler.

Butler, the teenage son of a former OSU football official, was charged and ultimately pleaded no contest to 10 sexual assault-related charges and one count of violating a protective order. He even strangled one victim until she was nearly dead.

Here’s his full rap(e) sheet:

What a sick fucking sociopath! It’s good we caught this guy early, so he can spend a long time in jail or a mental institution and not be free to roam the streets looking for his next victim, huh?

Here’s the video of his arrest that’s been making the rounds on social media. It shows his mom standing by his side, urging him to stay strong and pray.

Well, I guess score one for the twisted power of prayer!

After countless messages to God – or Lucifer – to get him off the hook, a Payne County DA and judge approved a plea deal that let Butler – a rapist – avoid any sort of prison time. Instead, he just has to go to counseling and do some community service assisting all the non-rapists!

If that doesn’t seem right or fair, congrats – you’re not an imbecile judge or DA out of Stillwater.

Here are the details via ABC News:

Question: I’m not a judge, lawyer, or politician, but can we pass a law that makes sure people who plead no contest to multiple rape and assault charges have to spend at least a little bit of time in jail?

That’s not a lot to ask, right?

I mean, if we’re going to mandate that drunk drivers spend 10 days in jail for a first offense, shouldn’t we do the same for rapists?

Not surprisingly, Oklahoma politicians who let this happen under their watch have said nothing.

I couldn’t find any statement by Kevin Stitt calling this a miscarriage of justice, or photos of him protesting with angry Stillwaterites.

I also couldn’t find any statement from AG Gentner Drummond. He loves taking over cases when they involve exonerating a possible murderer or placating the tribes in his effort to win the Governor’s seat, but when it comes to making sure a rapist is held accountable and gets what he deserves?

Crickets.

Anyway, my heart goes out to the victims of Butler’s crimes and to the Oklahoma Standard that didn’t hold him accountable. I hope they eventually experience peace and healing, and that via karma – or prayer – Butler someday gets the punishment he deserves.
