Ryan Walters’ Bible-In-Classroom Crusade Fed to the Lions…

We have some bad news for wacky Christian Nationalists who want to use government resources to force religion on kids, or still panic about kitty litter in school bathrooms.

Earlier today, new sane Oklahoma State School Superintendent Lindel Fields announced he will not be moving forward with Ryan Walters’ unconstitutional plan to distribute Trump Bibles in Oklahoma classrooms, officially ending one of the more shamelessly moronic crusades Ryan tried to force through as superintendent.

Via News 9:

Oklahoma State Superintendent of Public Instruction Lindel Fields announced an update regarding previous items and actions from former Superintendent Ryan Walters on Wednesday morning.

The immediate plan, announced by Superintendent Fields, included filing a motion to dismiss and halting Walters' plan to "distribute Bibles or a Biblical character education curriculum in classrooms."

The mandate previously faced a lawsuit filed by a group of Oklahomans, who argued it imposes upon students' religious liberty.

As one of those people who thinks we probably shouldn’t use government resources to force any religion on anyone – much less a student – I think this is pretty swell news.

My only concern is, what is Fields going to do with the money we’re saving on the Bibles?

Will he go the Ryan Walters route and announce he’s using the money to buy Hobby Lobby ornamental crucifixes to hang on classroom walls, or – better yet – will he stick it to Ryan and give each classroom copies of Gender Queer, Das Kapital, and the 2025 NEA Woke Teachers Training Manual?

You know, something outrageous and controversial to keep us all entertained.

Fields even managed to deliver his statement without screaming about “Marxist indoctrination.”

“We plan to file a motion to dismiss, and have no plans to distribute Bibles or a Biblical character education curriculum in classrooms. If resources are left to be allocated, the timing is fortunate since the team and I are currently reviewing the budget,” said Supt. Fields.

Wow. Was that a muted, humble, and professional response from the State School Superintendent? Where are the shoutouts to Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, and Radical Trans Teachers’ Unions? Is this real life and the new normal???

If so, I have to say I’m all for it. Sure, measured responses from bureaucrats that dodge answers don’t really move the pageview needle that much, but I guess I can make that sacrifice if it means Oklahoma schools aren’t run by a psycho.

That being said, Fields needs to be careful here.

Yes, it’s nice to have a superintendent who is, by all accounts, professional and practical, but after three years of dealing with Ryan Walters, he just can’t hit the brakes like that! Moving on from a tyrant is like switching up your anxiety pills. You need to phase out of one and transition into the other. You don’t just go cold turkey. That’s as dangerous as spilling a scalding hot pot of coffee from Harbor Mountain in your lap!

Hopefully he considers that when it’s time to overturn Ryan’s ban on kitty litter in bathrooms.
